Curiosity, a surreal playground installation of six seesaws with giant eyes. Inspired by the whimsical world of Joan Miró. Artist Amigo & Amigo. Vivid 2025 #Abstractia #Eyes #AlphabetChallenge #WeekNforNeon
Part of an installation at Vivid 2025. Artist Amigo & Amigo
The scene is dark, during the night, with a seesaw lit up with two eyes on a pole in the middle. What would be a long flat board on a regular playgound seesaw here is round, tube like, lit up with a purplish. In the middle of this tube on an unseen pole are two round eyes, one atop the other. The whites of the eyes are also a purplish colour.A person is sitting on each end of the tube, in silhouette. To the left of the frame is the end of another seesaw, this one with oval eye shape partly in view.
The installation is Inspired by the whimsical world of Joan Miró, a surreal playground of six interactive seesaws with giant eyes gazing back at those on it as they move up and down.

Some assembly required #AlphabetChallenge #WeekMforMachinery
A microfilm/fiche reader printer sitting on a mobile table in an office. The machine is on, indicated by a small blue light above a white light over a glass cover. Loaded on the machine is a roll of microfilm, on a light blue spool. On top of the machine are several sheets of paper. A plastic container of microfiche sits behind the machine to the right of the frame.. A yellow microfibre cloth is by the machine, to the right. The table sits next to desk that has two archive boxes visible underneath. On the desk are some unidentifiable black objects and a spiral notebook. In the background is another desk with office chair and dark carpet.

Cotoneaster in autumn Yes it's a poisonous weed here in NSW, but it sure can photograph nice 😀 #Abstractia #Leaves #photography
A cotoneaster plant growing over a beige coloured wall. The leaves of the plant are mostly green with some red, some yellow. A small red berry is at the end of the main branch. The background consists of other branches not in focus and the wall.

This plant just keeps on providing me with images (some better than others 😆) #PurpleFriday #FlowersOnFriday #photography #bloomscrolling
Purple fountain grass growing in an unseen garden bed by the road. Few of the plant's leaves are in view, more the flowers. Some of the leaves are green, some are purple. The flowers are long feathery arched seed heads, most purple, some straw coloured. A shadow falls across the road behind the plant, that of a power pole with light and lines.

What is now Victoria Cross Metro Station and tower above. From my archives, 30 September 2020 For two years I took at least one photo per week of this site. Not really sure why at the time, possibly just because I could. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekMforMachinery #photography
A construction site, as seen from above through an office window opposite. The window has dirt and other fine material on it carried by the air from the site. Several excavators and graders and other machines are seen, breaking and moving the earth to form a big hole in the ground. On a platform by the road is a the road by the site is a B double truck, being filled with what is being removed from the site.

Bright colours blending in #BirdOfTheDay alt theme of #Vivid #birds #rainbowlorikeets #photography #notabirdphotographer
A bird, hanging upside down, feeding on a flowering tree. The bird is a rainbow lorikeet, viewed from behind; a bright green body and wings and blue head, with some of its yellow and orange chest in view. The tree it is in is a red bottlebrush, with green leaves. Morning sunlight falls across the bird and some of the plant.

Street life on a now cloudy afternoon #UrbanGaze #photography #ibis
Looking down from an unseen balcony. In view is a property boundary, the end of a red brick wall, with and a lower red wall at right angles next to an entry to a driveway. Across the driveway is a drain cover. Over the lower wall is a maroon hooded jacket, white label in view, thrown over as if waiting for the owner to collect. On the footpath behind the walls is an e-bike, green handlebars, front basket and front wheel in view. An ibis, colloquially known as a bin chicken, is walking along the gutter, close the bike.

Sunlight on the corner #SensoryArt #Roads #photography
Looking at a kerb inlet pit on the corner of a road, or a drain that is part of the road rather than the kerb. Sunlight is falling between the trees around, making shadows on the road, and through the grate on the debris below. The gutter, road and footpath around the inlet has sticks and leaves in it.

Move to the back of the bus please It looked better in my head as I was suddenly remembering I needed something red for today after a difficult and trying morning with groceries still to go . . . #ColourADay #RedWed #photography #reflections
Looking at the front area of a bus, from the accessible side seats. On the floor is a red painted area, with the words NO STANDING AREA in yellow capital letters. This is reflected on the silver metal area below an unseen luggage storage area. Part of a left shoe and trouser leg is visible, belonging to a passenger sitting on the front seat behind the driver.

There is a bluey in the same garden, but you don't see it out often as a family of kookaburras live across the road and have the run of the street.

Zooming in on a penny lizard poking its head out from a brick veneer crack in a wall, on a dull Tuesday morning #TextureTuesday #photography #skinks
Close up view of a skink poking its head out of a crack in a brick wall. About half its body is in view, two legs in full view and one back leg not quite. The bricks are blonde and the mortar is light in colour, and quite textured. Some green is visible on the bricks, probably mould given the orientation of the wall.

The making of a big hole below the surface of North Sydney, in what would become Victoria Cross Metro Station with a 42 floor building above. August 2020, as seen from the fourth floor of the building opposite via phone camera. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekLforLookingIn #photography
Looking down through a fourth floor office window to a construction site across the road, at what is now becoming a big hole in the ground. Steps in protective scaffolding lead down to the bottom of site, with lighting seen turned on. Various machines are in the process of breaking rock on the left of the frame, with their operational lights visible through the rock dust in the air on an overcast afternoon. Some of the broken material is in the process of being tipped into a truck at the right of the frame. The window being looked through is, not surprisingly, covered in rock dust.
This is the early stages of the construction of the metro station at North Sydney, what will be known as Victoria Cross.

I don't think this is where pegs come from, though in our garden this is often where they are found 😀 #ColourADay #OrangeSun #photography #gardenlife

Looking up at a section of 1000 Cranes, an installation at Vivid 2018. Artists: Ambient & Co- Christopher Simpson, Isabella Bain, Anthony Zeater, James Rotanson, Khanh Nguyen Can't miss the #lights in this one 😂* #photography *see my previous #BlueSkyArtShow submission
A section of an installation at Vivid 2018. 1000 Cranes is inspired by an ancient Japanese legend: if a group of 1000 origami cranes (known in Japanese as senbazuru) are hung in one’s home it will act as a powerful and benevolent charm and bring good luck.
The installation is a canopy of hanging origami cranes that light up as visitors move through the space. As the crowd grows more cranes light up until 1000 cranes are fully illuminated. The light colours of the cranes are individually white, blue, red, purple orange and yellow in this section captured. Most of them are purple. Some cranes are dark, not lit up.
Artists: Ambient & Co- Christopher Simpson, Isabella Bain, Anthony Zeater, James Rotanson, Khanh Nguyen.

There was prudent use of zoom after I uploaded the photo, not sure what I'd find. At the time of taking the photos (and being on the last pub of the Guinness Crawl) I was concentrating on the sky and also remembering Save Our Sirius and the campaigns to stop the sale of public housing in the area

Not long before sunset tonight looking over what was once public housing in Millers Point, Sydney And tiny tiny tiny #lights of the string variety (barely visible, in silhouette) for #BlueSkyArtShow, where we are all friends, yes 😀? #photography #sunsets #sunset
Looking over the roofline of terrace houses at a setting sun and clouds. The roofline is in silhouette, with the sun reflecting off some of the railings on the top level of the houses underneath. On the right a rooftop structure with a cover and tiny tiny string lights hanging from a possible pagoda like structure. Two chimney pots are atop a chimney in the middle of the frame. The sun is behind this chimney, a golden yellow blending into brown among the clouds. A tall pole with something oval on top, possibly an air vent, is off to the left of the chimney.

Construction lights at night. A building is being constructed, and certain parts of it are lit up. A crane it to the right of the frame. As the building is close to an airport there are red flashing lights on the tallest parts, in the photo showing red, not flashing. The crane also has red lights.

Pear in the gutter At least it's biodegradable (and is being helped along if you look closely 😄) #SensoryArt #fruit #ColourADay #GreenSat #photography #gutter #pears #discarded
Close up view of a pear in a street gutter, with some leaves, flowers, sticks and other detritus. The pear is lying on its side, over a join in the gutter. One half of the pear is green, where the stalk is, the other is more yellow. There is visible damage, bruising, marks; and a hole in the skin/flesh facing upwards with insects feeding on it. Small fruit flies (presumably) are on the outside skin, and also inside the hole eating the flesh. A small black caterpillar looking creature is at the edge of the hole. The light is dull but there are some shadows around the pear and also the top left of the frame from an unseen parked car.

Looking out to the world below #ColourADay #BWFri #photography #dogs
A black and white photo of a dog looking out of an open window on the top floor of a building. The dog is roughly the same colour as the outside of the building, a mustard yellow, so not sure if this really works in black and white. The dog has its head out resting on the window frame, making a small shadow underneath. The window frame is dark, with white louvre blinds or shutters on them. The window is in a building on shopping strip, above an unseen retail outlet, and power lines run across the frame.

Close up view of the back of a washing machine sitting on the verge. Three hoses are in view. Two are attached to the back by nuts - one nut blue, the other red. The other hose is held the the machine by a clamp, the end with a red nut is not fixed. There is some dust or similar on the back near the attached hoses. Some light is reflected, possibly from the windows of the house behind, making shadows on the back.

Empty shop life Reusing this photo as it fits this week perfectly #AlphabetChallenge #WeekLforLookingIn #photography #emptyshop
Looking through a window with bars to a shop that has been empty for many years. The bars are both metal and wooden. The window has no glass or other material covering it. The floor is covered in dust and detritus. A doorway leads to another room, filled with sunlight. In the main room sunlight is seen on the floor coming in through a side window.

Walking along the street with a camera #ColourADay #YellowThu #UrbanGaze #photography
Looking side on from the footpath at a driveway and steps. Three concrete steps are in view, running along side a blonde brick retaining wall. A brown railing runs along the other side of the steps. On each step is a line of yellow safety paint. The concrete driveway had two lines of yellow safety paint, one each side of a drain running across its width. An unseen crack further up the driveway causes water to run down into the driveway, seen here with some leaves and other detritus on the surface. On the other side of the driveway is the edge of another retaining wall, with the corner of a walkway up the driveway partly in view.

Footpath still life (under seasonally confused trees two weeks ago) #ColourADay #RedWed #leaves #photography
Three fallen leaves and some sticks on a footpath in weird light. The middle leaf is red, an autumn colour. It is the beginning of spring, September. Under this leaf is a stick. with most of it visible. To the right of the leaf is a smaller stick, about 2cm or so in length. Above the red leaf is a smaller leaf that is a light reddish green colour. Below the middle leaf is a green leaf, curled at the edges.

What is seen of the dwelling is a orange/red brick wall, with what looks like some sort of whiteish graffiti remover covering a fair amount of the bricks. Two doors set into the wall. One a beige garage door at the left edge of the frame. Next to it is a yellow door with red window panels. A small garden bed is next to the yellow door, with some flowering plants growing in it.
