The implication that nonbinary or genderqueer identities are just stepping stools to realizing you're binary trans is really rude in general. Like yeah some people call themselves nonbinary before they come out as binary trans, but not all. Nb/gq is not a "soft" version of being transgender.

My one complaint about hanging out with fellow queer people is that sometimes I'll talk about, like, wanting to be perceived as more masculine and stuff and trans men around me will say like "yeah I remember thinking like that before I knew I was a man" implying that they think I'm an egg.

Spirit's plight is parallel to the plight of the Lakota tribe's. He has been "broken" so he could be shipped off and used as a tool for the colonizers. And if it didn't work and Spirit couldn't save himself, they would've killed him the way they killed plenty of natives.

Yes, horses irl don't care if they're in captivity or being ridden or whatever as long as they're being well cared for. BUT Spirit is an allegory for colonization. You see Spirit being held captive alongside a Lakota man and that Lakota man's village being plundered by colonizers.
