Wide photo of a rowing team practicing. Two canoes of women tape up the length of the photo, then in the background a coach looks at the women from her motor boat.

Most boosted post from my old account, hehe #nature

Short video of a large snail in the background wiggling its antennae as an ant in the foreground runs away from the snail and toward the camera.

Quaker history fact: When a prominent Quaker died and left a journal, a committee was appointed to edit and publish the deceased Friend's writings. Apparently writings about the spiritual basis of being vegetarian were redacted from many of these journals because: * it would be unpalatable to […]

[ec] First composite! I just reused whatever photos I had for this. It's pretty fun to edit these. I need to start thinking about what I can overlay when I'm shooting next.

Composite photograph where a selfie of me is overlayed with a photo of a bee on a bunch of white flowers, with swirly yellow blotches in the background.

Times like this make me wish I had a full frame sensor since the bokeh on the _f_ /1.4 is so interesting #bloomscrolling #photography

Photo of purple flowers. The background has a creamy blur from the lens distortion.

Kinda a throwaway shot that I tried to make spooky. I like the overgrown rails, though.

Bluish Dutch-angle photo of a tree and plants sprouting in an abandoned rail line.

The aggressive color grading will continue until morale improves

Photo where a rusty corrugated metal wall has two graffiti characters: a green ogre and an angry red Skittle guy. They are by each other and a bush. Two rain lines are in the foreground.

And sometimes the subject is just an excuse to get pretty swirly bokeh! #photography #bloomscrolling #NaturePhotography

A narrow depth of field photo of a single yellow flower on a stem. The lens distorts the background into swirling oblong blobs of green and yellow. You can make out some wild flowers and goldenrod.

A narrow depth of field photo of a plant with a cluster of yellow flowers in various stages of blooming. There are some fuzzy trichomes on the leaves and drops of dew on the stem. There are blurry plants in the midground, then there's a rough shape of a mountain in the background.

I think I'm only just starting to _get_ modes. All the resources online either describe them via having a different starting note or using 7-note solfège, and both of those are impossible for me to sing. If I'm not mistaken, this is right for 4-note solfège: lydian: fa sol la fi sol la mi fa […]

Vexed again by 18th century engravers.

A yellowed book scan from an 18th century book of Scottish tunes. There's a measure, split by a double repeat bar, with three eighth notes on the left and two on the right. You'll note that that is not an even number.

Hello Friends! Quaker Quest will be down for a system upgrade. My VPS provider writes: "This will happen on 2026-08-23 @ 08:00 UTC / 10:00 CEST." It should last about 30 minutes. My other account @lxak will still be reachable during the downtime.
