Pride was born as a riot, and has always been an act of defiance. During my life, I survived an internment camp. I came out at 68. I've watched rights get won and now watch them being rolled back. Yet I'm still here, still proud, and still holding Brad's hand.

This headline is a disgusting lie Special Disability Trusts are not affected *AT ALL* The article even makes it clear the concerns of the bloke (a solicitor with expertise in wills and estates) in this story are not about his disabled son but his other children being able to minimize their tax!
Headlined from The Australian

Families of disabled children forced to overhaul finances under new Labor tax reformstext of story:

The first trust is a special disability trust, which will be largely unaffected by tax reforms in Labor’s controversial federal budget.

While it has some “limitations” as to how it can be spent, this trust will allow a few trusted people to access enough funds to see Henry properly cared for.

The second is a discretionary testamentary trust, which would be taxed at Labor’s new 30 per cent minimum if it was being established in the future.

Mr Latham told The Australian the initial appeal of a testamentary trust was its flexibility. “What that (trust) was intended to do was provide a pool of funds as a contingency for my son with a disability. But there’s also a broader range of beneficiaries, which includes my other children, so if Henry’s needs were met, there would be flexibility for the trustees to apply the funds more broadly to other beneficiaries,” he said.

Turns out climate change keeps happening even when we decide we don't want to talk about it anymore www.theguardian.com/world/2025/d...
The Arctic endured a year of record heat and shrunken sea ice as the world’s northern latitudes continue a rapid shift to becoming rainier and less ice-bound due to the climate crisis, scientists have reported.

From October 2024 to September 2025, temperatures across the entire Arctic region were the hottest in 125 years of modern record keeping, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa) said, with the last 10 years being the 10 warmest on record in the Arctic.

The Arctic is heating up as much as four times as quickly as the global average, due to the burning of fossil fuels, and this extra heat is warping the world’s refrigerator – a region that acts as a key climate regulator for the rest of the planet.

Changes to polar bear DNA could help them adapt to global heating, study finds

The maximum extent of sea ice in 2025 was the lowest in the 47-year satellite record, Noaa reported on in its annual Arctic report card. This is the latest landmark in a longer trend, with the region’s oldest, thickest ice declining by more than 95% since the 1980s as the Arctic becomes hotter and rainier.
