Seconds after Draco sent that text, Pansy and Hermione heard a pop of apparition.

“Pansy, Granger,” Draco yelled from the
bedroom. They both ran through the doorway to see Draco holding Scarlett.

“Is… Is she okay?” Hermione froze as Pansy
ran to grab Scarlett.

“Yes, she’s fine. She’s not injured.”

With confirmation that Scarlett was unharmed, Hermione went and embraced her wife and daughter, tighter than she probably ever had.

“I’m going to give you all some time while we
do reports and finish up at the location.
But, I’ll need her account at some point,”
Draco stated cautiously.

“Of course, thank you, Drake, thank you for
bringing her back to us,” Pansy said through
the tears falling into Scarlett’s hair.

Draco apparated back out of the suite as
Hermione and Pansy sat on the bed.

“Scarlett, baby girl, are you okay?”

“Yes, Mama, I’m okay. I think I was asleep.
Was I gone a long time?”

“Longer than we wanted you to be, love,”
Pansy murmured kissing the top of her head.

“Why are you crying Mummy? Are you sad?”

“No, no. These are happy tears. Mama and I
were so worried about you, but you’re back in our arms, and I’m never letting you go.”

“Mummy, you can’t hold me forever.”

“Yes, I can,” Pansy smiled, tightening her
grip around the little girl further.

“Scar, do you want to finish what we were
trying to do earlier? Mr. Slothie still needs
his bath.”

“Me too Mama?”

“Yes, you too love.”

• 30 minutes later •

Scarlett, cleaned and in her nighties, was
fast asleep holding Mr. Slothie.

“I would hold her forever if I could.”

“I know, Pans. I know. How are we going to
make up for this? She’s going to have trauma forever.”

“We just do the best we can, just like we’ve
always done. She’ll be okay. She is our
daughter after all.”

Hermione let her head fall into Pansy’s
shoulder, laughing quietly to keep from
waking their daughter, “Maybe, when all of
this is over, and Scarlett’s not traumatized,
we can start talking about her sibling.”

“Oh, is that how you’re planing to make it up
to her? Give her a baby? Or is that how you
think you’re going to make it up to me?”
Pansy smirked as she turned to face her wife.

“And if it is, would that be acceptable?”
Hermione pressed her forehead to Pansy’s so their noses were touching.

“You don’t owe me anything ever, and you know that, but I’m not saying no to another one of us running around. Scar will be the best big sister.”

Hermione pressed her lips to Pansy’s as she
silently told her just how much she loved

Pansy stepped through the private floo in
Hermione’s office and immediately heard
someone sobbing and saw Draco pacing.

“What’s wrong?”

“Pansy, come here. I need to tell you something and then I’ll let you go see
Hermione.”

Draco’s voice was serious, too serious.

Pansy walked over to him, cautiously as she
tried to take in what possibly could have
happened in the hour she’d been gone.

“Deep breath, Pans.”

She followed his directions and looked directly into his eyes.

“Someone has taken Scarlett.”

Pansy blinked, thinking she’d surely misheard her best friend’s words.

“What?”

“Scarlett was taken. We assume by the same
people who released the infidelity article.
We are on it and we are going to find her and
bring her home safe. But, right now, you need to go see your wife. She’s not okay.”

Pansy felt her heart shatter and time freeze
around her. She moved past Draco slowly and went to find Hermione.

She was sitting on the ground sobbing,
holding Scarlett’s favorite stuffie, Mr.
Slothie.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Pans, this is my
fault. I’m so sorry.”

“No, don’t do this. It’s not your fault. It’s
not.” Pansy wrapped her arms around Hermione and held her.

“Pansy, she was right here when they took
her. She wasn’t even thirty feet from me. I
don’t know how I didn’t hear it.”

“Baby, the best Aurors in the country are on
it. They’re going to bring her back to us.
We’re going to be okay.”

“I’m resigning from the Ministry as soon as
she’s safe and in our arms. I can’t do this

“No, that’s exactly what they want. When she is safe, you will arrest all of them and show the Wizarding World what happens to people who threaten children and threaten the government. I will not let you resign.”

“Pansy, our daughter was taken because of who I am. She shouldn’t be in this position. You shouldn’t be in this position.”

Pansy had heard this thought spiral before
and she didn’t interrupt, because the worst
was still to come from Hermione.

“Pansy, I think we need to get divorced.
You’ll have full custody of Scarlett and then
neither of you will ever have to worry about
this again. My position won’t make you both
targets. It’s the only way.”

Pansy sighed, rolled her eyes and grabbed
Hermione’s chin to force her to make eye
contact.

“Hermione Jean, do you want any of
what you just said?”

Hermione whispered, “No, but it’s what’s
best.”

Pansy shook her head before pressing a soft
kiss to Hermione’s lips, “Baby, just like I
won’t let you resign, I won’t let you divorce
me. I won’t sign any papers or move out of
our house. It’s you and me forever. Forever.
I love you. Okay, I’m not going anywhere and
Draco is going to bring Scarlett home to us.

A tear fell down Hermione’s cheek as she

Neville’s fingers dance along the expanse of Pansy’s swollen belly, the white linen beneath his fingertips wrinkling lightly with his touch. Her back to his front as the afternoon sun sinks into their skin, a lover’s embrace in the midst of grassy greens.

Their eyes fully focused on their young girls, shrieking and giggling while stumbling over their own tiny feet; soles dirty and hair messy, carefree in a way only children ever seem to be.

“Daddy?” Ivy shouts excitedly, her voice breaking through the calmness of their small bubble. “Daddy catch me!”

Their oldest daughter running away as fast as her short little legs can carry her, floral dress billowing in the wind behind her, her laughter filling the air. Her younger sister tries to toddle behind her to the best of her abilities, young Jasmine barely knowing what’s going on, but more than excited to follow her older sibling without question.

Neville chuckles into Pansy’s ear, one more affectionate kiss pressed to her temple, before he slowly jogs after them. Delighted squeals fill the air as he pretends to catch them, the three of them tumbling into a heap on the grass, small hands and knees climbing all over him.

A contented smile spreads over Pansy’s lips, manicured fingers rubbing along her belly, their baby boy only a few weeks away from being born, of becoming the newest member of their growing family, already loved so deeply.
