Jan Merta @lunruj.bsky.social · 23/08/2026It's some lactarius but I'm not going into American species, I am pretty lame even in European ones. Including info about smell, taste, milk color changes (not always quick) and ecology (vague from the vid, sometimes the background can tell) helps. Plus a few well chosen pics are better than vid. 110

Jan Merta @lunruj.bsky.social · 16/07/2026I've heard there are over 20 species in the complex. The one depicted doesn't look like those I commonly find (those may be multiple species), I think I have seen something similar mentioned somewhere as one of the species from the complex mostly recognizable macroscopically but I can't find it. 010
Jan Merta @lunruj.bsky.social · 16/07/2026It looks like somewhat weathered Tapinella atrotomentosa, unfortunately the stipe can't be seen well in the pic. I don't know North American fungi but is should grow in NA as well. 010

Jan Merta @lunruj.bsky.social · 10/07/2026The third pic looks like one to me but considering other pics (proportions, cap shape) I think it might be rather some kind of destroying angel (close relatives to death caps), but I am not familiar with those in North America. 110
Jan Merta @lunruj.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Probably not Irpex lacteus, I'd expect more torn pores and probably some caps considering the position. Unfortunately resupinate poroid fungi usually require microscopy for identification. 020

Jan Merta @lunruj.bsky.social · 27/06/2026I guess some Leucoagaricus might be an option as well. Most are small but there are species quite similar to Macrolepiota or Chlorophyllum like Leucoagaricus americanus or Leucoagaricus nympharum and I don't know American species. 010

Jan Merta @lunruj.bsky.social · 27/06/2026The caps look kinda "Macrolepiotish" but stems look pretty smooth so I think it's some Chlorophyllum species, some can have caps pretty similar to Macrolepiota species. They should have flesh turning reddish or orangeish on cut. 110
