Dealing with the haunting was ritual in our household. Eyes would sprout in dark and damp corners of our home. Glassy and milky-white, I mistook them for benign mushrooms at first. Until their irises grew in, and suddenly gazes followed us from room to room. They first grew close to the ground, out of sight, and slowly worked their way upward... by Amanda Lee
