Driving home from a Nova Twins gig late at night in the fog and seeing flashes of deer-signs & roadkill makes for some strange dreams... 🦌🍂🌗 . . . . . #poetry #deer #naturepoetry #litmag #scottishcreatives #art #writing
illustration of a dear accompanied by blood-red text reading: search the doe
         on roadsides
winding vestigial flesh
a wounding fall
witness the torrent

gather at her hooves
life’s lashes l i n g e r
only guilt
fills the silence
with its dull

Getting a cat for a trial period to make sure she'd be happy in our living space and with our lifestyle. Trying really hard to contain my excitement 🥹 hoping it goes well. Any advice on making a cat comfortable in a new space and with new people? #pets #catadvice #catsofbluesky #vet #furryfriends

Today in relatable science: Gulls making a mysterious daily trip that turned out to be to a potato chip factory
A map of flight paths emanating from breeding colony of gulls, with this caption: Early on, LifeWatch noticed something odd. Most gulls were making daily trips to Mouscron, a city on the French border 65 km away. They went to investigate and found the birds bingeing on discarded snacks at the Roger & Roger potato factory.

Not sure there's enough talk about going from able-bodied to disabled out the blue. Like it's not as shocking when it happens to people doing dangerous jobs because the risk is known but the fact of the matter is, you can wake up one day and be ill and that's not talked about enough. 1/5 #disabled

Doing some research for my writing and the stark similarities between the early modern era and today's world is wild - science was gaining momentum but religious extremism and conservatism was intent on stamping it. Women were subjugated due to morality laws. Propaganda vs. Fact. #history #witchhunt

Skogkatt and Other Felines is an essay in the form of a poem covering the history of cats as human companions from Old World origins to Vikings sailing them around the world. 1/2 #poet #poetry #writer #writers #writingcommunity #art #cats #cute #poem
Dr. Eva-Maria Geigl concluded that Vikings likely helped spread the joy of feline companions around the globe. From wildcat to lap pet, they still stalk weary critters hiding in dark corners, under brambles, in the overgrown dirt, in your jumble-sale basement. We know these furry friends are ancient, sacred, clever, agile. From sandy-coloured African Wildcats haunting the Nile Deltas to frosty Freya’s gib-cats with blue-black hair, large enough to pull a chariot carrying a goddess of war. These wily creatures are thought to have sailed the world on the back of knarr. Legends speak of a poor man who found his princess in the head of a cat. Whispers of ghost cats roaming the Danish wilderness, larger than a house, traipsing misty spruce woodland. The cats hunted stowaway rodents, protecting Viking food supply on the high seas.

A dipper poem on a tomato's shelf life 🍅 #poetry #poets #poet #gardening #fruit #tomato #art #writers
For the Juicy Flesh of a Tomato Fruit:

plump plum-plucked pomodoro

your gold skin hides ripe marrow,

seeds belly-deep in a row

juice trickles staining yellow,

big beef big rainbow big boy

lush live leaves lick lips enjoy,

sweetnessbitterness

surly sanguine slop slushing

spores bloom within, blemishing

rotting rancid revolting

mycelia spread choking,

I hear you, see your aching,

A lifecycle finishing.
