I disagree. With Farage you pretty much see what you get - as you put it a hate peddler. Starmer is far more dangerous than that. He gets in on a progressive inclusive platform, then immediately does a U-turn on everything, and begins purging anyone he considers a threat.

Investigating Epstein will lead back to Mossad, and given Mandelsons ties to Blair and Israel people will start asking uncomfortable questions about who is actually pulling the strings around here. I suspect the US will follow the Israeli playbook - negotiations are for assassinations, ceasefires to rearm and reposition. This conflict is about attrition. The future will be decided by what gives first - tolerance of absurdity and atrocity, or the dignity of those forced to endure them.

It's obviously not an argument that stands up to serious scrutiny, but I think you're right that socialism is in some quarters considered "toxic" on that basis. But I think that narrative is weakening again with the cost of living crisis and the tremendous inequality in society.

I think that's 2 separate conversations. 2017 was the best Labour result in a very long time, but the party was still dealing with active sabotage from within. It's surprising Labour did as well as it did under those conditions.
