"This isn't leadership. This is an anti-democratic distraction from your failure to meaningfully address congestion, the housing crisis and other acute problems facing Nova Scotians, and it's sad to see so many fall for it.

How does one blame traffic congestion on bikeways? Halifax's chronically congested thoroughfares don't have bike lanes. Where are the bike lanes on the Bedford Highway, at the Armdale Rotary, on North Street, or on Robie Street? The root causes of congestion are overreliance on cars, rapid population growth, and the return-to-office mandate.

Morris Street has been studied and consulted upon for years, and according to the 2024 municipal staff report, the one-way option was deemed acceptable by both Halifax Fire and emergency services.

If you genuinely sought to address traffic congestion, you could do it tomorrow by reversing the decision to send thousands of provincial workers back to the office full time. You could fund bus rapid transit in Halifax, making use of a plan that has been sitting on a shelf since 2020. You could draw on the professional expertise of the civil service and consultants for evidence-based recommendations.

Effective and honourable leaders find solutions, not scapegoats."

I have a solution for that too, but they probably won't listen. It took me 10 years to get the water barrel to be manufactured in Nairobi instead on the UK. It will not take me long to get my personal barrels to those folks who need drinking water because of the bike lanes in their communities.
