Or maybe, making sure people can afford housing, health care and basic necessities, are able to form community by not having to constantly move and are ensured financial security in one of the richest countries on earth might do it? How’s leaning right going for UK Labour? 🫠🫠🫠

The govt isn’t ’failing to close the gap’ they are succeeding in creating the impression that they are trying to close the gap while ignoring all the evidence of what should be done to actually close it.

but the Daily Mail, for shits and giggles and to further incite racism against Indigenous people, used ‘double it again’ as the pull quote in the heading to imply that all Indigenous expenditure is being ‘doubled again’, even though it was never doubled in the first damn place.

This is maddening nonsense from Albanese. Herzog is the President of *Israel*. He’s not the “head of state” for Jews. This transformation of Jews into some convenient monolith is perverse.
PM defends decision to invite Herzog to Australia
Nick Newling
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has backed his decision to invite Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Australia, saying it was appropriate to allow the Jewish community to mourn with the leader.
"He was [invited] because he's the head of state. He's the equivalent of the governor-general, and when the Jewish community asked for their head of state to visit. I think it is appropriate that people be allowed to mourn and to do so respectfully," Albanese told Triple M radio in Hobart.

Then renamed everything after English ppl and places, introduced English animals and farming techniques that were entirely unsuited for the country, refused to learn the local languages or cultures, and then waged war on the people and the country for the next 200 years. That’s the real Aussie way.

“If you pine for where you came from, and say I really want Australia to be just like the shithole I came from. You go back there.” Yeah, not like the ‘real Australians’. The ones who came here from England and complained relentlessly about how much it was not like England.

I’ve been thinking about how often we say that’ institutional racism isn’t reliant on intent’, which is true. At the same time, it seems relevant to note that there are numerous institutions who intentionally perpetuate and incite racism as part of their core business… and that business is booming.

It isn't an ethical double standard, it's a lack of ethics entirely. Their outrage isn't determined by the severity of an event. It is determined by which events can be exploited to further their political and economic agendas.

"Why aren't media as outraged about the Perth bomb attack as there were over the Bondi shootings?" Dude, they aren't even as outraged as they were when Adam Goodes threw an imaginary boomerang.

One of the things that really sticks me is that now, a few days after Jan 26, many mob are still reeling, still hurting, still recovering… but in murdoch media rooms around the country they are counting up all the extra clicks and congratulating each other on another successful year.

I don’t want their crocodile tears or faux outrage. I want accountability.
190
Luke Pearson @lukelpearson.bsky.social · 29/01/2026
The problem isn’t that they have failed to express sufficient outrage, it’s that they strategically generate, and profit from, inciting hatred against us. The problem is that they are not held to account for their role in creating an atmosphere where violence is more likely to occur.
1111
Luke Pearson @lukelpearson.bsky.social · 29/01/2026
Why would we be surprised that they aren’t outraged about the people they spend all their time attacking being attacked? This isn’t just about a double standard, it’s about an ongoing strategy to demonise and incite hatred and what happens when that incitement to hatred leads to violence.
1102
Luke Pearson @lukelpearson.bsky.social · 29/01/2026
If we’re going to talk about how select groups in media and politics are selective in their outrage when there is an attack, then we probably need to continue that conversation to look at who those same people spend all their time attacking.

Who could have guessed that increasingly virulent attacks from sections of the media and politicians that deem Aboriginal people unAustralian, divisive, fraudsters, whingers, criminals, bludgers, a drain on public resources and a threat to western civilisation would lead to its inevitable outcome?
