I haven’t walked around this side for a couple of weeks but shocked to see the Alexandra Lake on Wanstead Flats nearly dried up. It’s home to so many waterfowl. I know it means I’ll have a filthy dog every day but please let us have a few weeks of rain.

Today has mostly been spent at the store lifting heavy volume after heavy volume out of boxes & shelving them. Did the Illustrated Sporting & Dramatic News from 1874-1944. The worst. Some volumes huge, some falling apart, many without spines so you have to look up date. Absolutely cream crackered

It’s for a royal magazine so need an intro about King’s Coastal path & how it came about, thenwalks can be travel-ly but would really like to find some royal/history connected with that stretch (e.g visit a castle/there’s a palace nearby, William the Conqueror landed here - that sort of thing.

Ooh, Bowes Museum's Silver Swan was the subject of a University Challenge question just now (they didn't get it). Also, Amol Rajan just pronounced it BAR-NARd Castle. When Bob Holness said it in a similar way on Blockbusters in 1988, the school was buzzing with impressions of his mispronunciation.
