Today has mostly been spent at the store lifting heavy volume after heavy volume out of boxes & shelving them. Did the Illustrated Sporting & Dramatic News from 1874-1944. The worst. Some volumes huge, some falling apart, many without spines so you have to look up date. Absolutely cream crackered

Ooh, Bowes Museum's Silver Swan was the subject of a University Challenge question just now (they didn't get it). Also, Amol Rajan just pronounced it BAR-NARd Castle. When Bob Holness said it in a similar way on Blockbusters in 1988, the school was buzzing with impressions of his mispronunciation.

Took husband to work this morning to salvage shelves no longer needed. He’s beside himself as wood so expensive these days. Had to drive back unable to see my left wing mirror with what he estimates is about £300 worth of timber. And he only took one thing out of the skip. Could have been worse.

Since it popped up on Netflix (or Amazon Prime, I forget which) & because I’ve never seen it, I binge-watched Band of Brothers last week, and then The Pacific this week. I am wrung out by the experience. Especially watching the latter. This is hardly revelatory, but war is terrible.

When I concentrated really hard, realised I knew - or at least had heard - of everyone bar five of the blokes. So a 66% recognition rating, though I would have struggled to pick Delta Goodrem out in a line-up. Plus Jaime Winston & Lacey Turner are a bit similar looking.

Now for a timeline cleanse. Went to the Medici Society archive last week (we represent them at Mary Evans) to look at their Molly Brett originals. I’m plotting something to mark her 125th anniversary next year. It was a lovely couple of hours. Hundreds of charming, exquisitely painted watercolours.
