gonna see if i can manage to cobble together a gentoo install with LUKS encryption using the TPM and secure boot... if i can do that I might at some point see if i can redo my main laptop at some point

i got annoyed about that while twiddling with the settings there was a dropdown or something somewhere that didnt round properly but that's going to be worked out in an update or two since it just seemed like an oversight

of course the thing i bumped the version on aint tested but when its just in an overlay it wont be so who cares at some point i gotta sit down and proper proper learn how to write ebuilds though possibly actually send some of the bumped versions up to a repo that aint just mine too

i had like two overlays set up for like one package each so simple solution just steal the two ebuilds i actually care about also bumped the version on one of them so i get the most recent version of a thing i use not that i really need it but its nice

portage's onehshot option is so nice i needed to have kde plasma for a bit for an exprriment but have no reason to keep it around and it made it super easy genuinely ehy doesnt every package manager have something like this

my main issue with it is that the roundness isnt consistent a bunch of things is still square if you are going to change up my software then just change all of it please so it all looks the same

portage has an option for having things be a one time install that you don't care to keep around on your system holy shit that is useful why doesnt everything have that
