Physics Nobel Prize drops tomorrow! My pick would be John Pendry, the physicist behind invisibility cloaks. There's a great video about the Physics of Invisibility on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1io... #NobelPrize #Physics

Nobel week starts tomorrow! Let's not forget that a worm won more Nobel Prizes than anyone else. And if a tiny worm can help win four Nobel prizes, surely the rest of us can aim for at least one. www.youtube.com/shorts/5EPPB... #Nobel #Nobelprize

It’s spooky season! 🎃 And it comes with adorable binary. Even in times of vibe coding it might be useful to know what these do! #spooky #season

I really love seeing that with each upgrade, large-scale facilities become more powerful: For 40 years, cuprate #superconductors were treates as a uniform crystal, but thanks to @esrf.fr source upgrade, we now know there are two different atomic arrangements. Time to revisit some models!

The next generation of big machines might be not so big anymore 🤨 SwissFEL pushed its X-rays beyond its design limit, by improving electron beam quality instead of "just" adding energy. That means more compact, cheaper #X-ray lasers. Would be interesting to #founders and #research labs!

I just realized my writing essentials never changed since day 1 of writing: 1) coffee (not negotiable) 2) headphones (noise cancelling is optional) 3) lofi or gaming music (The Last of Us works best for me) 4) phone off or flight mode 5) mails on do not disturb 6) office door closed

1/ How do antidepressants really work? Writing that 60s script with Kurzgesagt was one of the hardest I've done. Depression takes so many forms, and the treatment is anything but simple. High stakes, huge audience. You do not want to get it wrong. image credit: in a nutshell – kurzgesagt GmbH

If you need just one reason not to use AI for scientific writing, @colincarlson.bsky.social has it for you: career-ending plagiarism accusations. AI rephrases other scientists' work and ideas as your own, often without citing them. Adding it to my list. 🧪 www.carlsonlab.bio/thoughts/the...

When you can make everything, what do you choose to make? A question from Khyati Trehan (Google Creative Lab) on how AI reshapes creative work. Creation itself is no longer the bottleneck: writers make videos, scientists make podcasts, filmmakers vibe-code interfaces. 🧵

What's the real reason you haven't started that SciComm project you've been thinking about for weeks? "Not enough time" is the answer I hear the most. But often the real reason lies deeper. Four questions that helped me find mine. Which one's yours?

Nobody teaches you SciComm during your PhD. You’re expected to give talks, write papers, defend your work, and somehow know how to make it clear and compelling. I didn’t. I learned the hard way: rough talks, worse first tweets, then writing for Kurzgesagt. You don’t have to figure it out alone. 💛

One of THE #SciComm mistakes scientists make when explaining their work: They start with what they did. But only few will actually care what you did until you show them why it matters. Better: stand in the shoes of your audience and lead with the stakes for them. The #science follows.
