I just need to see comeuppance for people who do evil things at some point in my life, this whole thing of letting them do the most deranged shit with no consequences has been a disaster, I don't think it's good for anyone's soul to see monsters get away with it every day.

Unpopular opinion (maybe I am just grumpy?): your last slide, which you leave up during your questions, should NOT be a content-free "thanks!" but instead your conclusions slide. Leave that puppy up for slower consideration, don't wipe it from the screen for a one-word slide. 😠 🔭🧪

As I wrote in @thehill.com, federal science funding isn’t just about labs, it’s about livelihoods. Cuts to NIH, NSF & NASA mean lost jobs today, stalled discovery tomorrow, and fewer opportunities for the next generation. When we invest in research, we are investing in workers and communities. ⬇️

OK, this is wild. In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them. It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*. What the HELL? 1/

🔭🧪 Things that make me happy: This is the first image from Mars, taken July 1965. Why does it look like this? Because computers were slow and it was going to be hours before the computer processed it enough to make an image. The scientists and engineers were impatient. 1/5

New in my shop! I am SO EXCITED AND PROUD about these. Gemstone necklaces that are a full, continuous spectrum, red to blue, interrupted by black beads for the strongest absorptions in the solar spectrum. I aim to maximize both beauty and geekery. www.etsy.com/listing/1829...
A tall black velvet necklace stand. On it, a 32-inch string of beads,a rainbow of color from red at the wearer's left shoulder, through orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet on the wearer's right. Interspersed with the colored beads are black disks at the positions of solar spectrum absorption features, such as the pair of disks within the orange beads symbolizing the sodium absorption. The same necklace as in the previous photo, looped twice about the neck, so blue and red/orange are most featured.
