For anyone looking for a great way to support volunteers doing work on the ground to support homelessness in #WaterlooRegion, donating to the Unsheltered Campaign is a great investment: www.waterlooregion.org/give-for-a-b... #LivedExpertise #EvictionPreventionWR #CivicHubWR
Emergency Fundraising Campaign for Unsheltered Neighbours
The Unsheltered Campaign (UC) is in urgent need of monetary donations right now to meet the immediate, practical needs of people in our community who are unhoused. Especially those unable to access emergency shelters.
We are kindly asking for support from the broader community, to continue urgent mutual aid and outreach support to unhoused folks who are left stranded by the system. Unprecedented numbers of people are experiencing homelessness, including older adults, people with disabilities, and people who have never been homeless before. Donations cover costs associated with temporary shelter, food, necessities, and survival gear.
If you are able, you can make a donation through the Social Development Centre Waterloo Region using the link or QR code. Please choose “Unsheltered Campaign” from the drop-down list of donation recipients.

Disappointing news that will continue expensive, time consuming litgation. RoW knows that over 2,300 people are homeless right now, and there isn't system capacity to house everyone. People will continue to camp, bylaw or no bylaw, the difference is they will be less safe and supported.

Building accessible housing must be a priority. And housing policy plays a key role. 📜 The federal government is about to make a historic investment in non-market and supportive housing through the Build Canada Homes agency.

This is deeply distrubing, especially as publically available data demonstrates that research proposals from many equity-deserving groups remains under-represented in Tricouncil funding.

Chasing people living outside a few or hundreds of meters over, over, & over again, via threats, tickets, notices, forced removal, destroying property, intimidation, is all more work, cost, waste, horror, violence & repugnance than just offering real housing & care. Disgusting.

City of Cambridge has issued encampment eviction notices meant to be enforced during this heatwave. Instead of supporting people to stay alive, trying to push people out of their shelter. Why are we evicting people during extreme weather?
