I've submitted a question to Salford Council neighbourhoods scrutiny (the panel is next week) about what is being done to prevent racist intimidation in our city. Let us see.

I want a Prime Minister with the integrity and backbone to come to our streets and put this hate back in its box. This should have been done years ago, but it needs to happen now.

I thought Alzheimer's Society had binned the "People with Alzheimer's have already died" ads. Apparently not. I can't express how much I dislike that messaging, and how counterproductive I think it is for people getting diagnosed and carers.

Farage's no show at the count is part of a pattern of the contempt REF has for how democracy is practised in this country - see Sian Astley's recent refusal to take part in a GM mayoral hustings she even turned up to. But also real cowardice when having to actually deal with the broader public.

But we cannot possibly be satisfied with a turnout of 25.1% for an election which is explicitly about seeking a personal mandate for a specific job.

Extraordinary behaviour from Reform's Sian Astley. She turned up to The Mill's mayoral hustings, but left without taking part. I have to say it was one of the most mild mannered political events I have been to in Manchester, but apparently Reform can't even deal with that.

This calligraphy art represents the Japanese phrase Ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会), which translates to "one time, one meeting".It is a concept often associated with the Japanese tea ceremony, emphasizing that every encounter is unique and will never recur.
This bold, vertical Japanese calligraphy work displays the four-character idiom (yojijukugo) Ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会), rendered from top to bottom in heavy, sweeping ink strokes that convey a powerful sense of weight and momentum: 一 (ichi, one), 期 (go, period/lifetime), 一 (ichi, one), and 会 (e, meeting/encounter). Rooted in Zen philosophy and central to the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu), the phrase translates to "one time, one meeting." It serves as a gentle reminder to treasure every gathering or human connection, urging us to approach each encounter with presence and care, as no single moment can ever be truly replicated.

The protest space related to Number 10 South is well established. Where is the protest space for Number 10 North? This is just as much part of democracy as elections.
