The officers and committee members of the AAS gathered yesterday to celebrate Frances Lynch Llewelyn MBE, who is stepping down as our chair after 13 years. She first joined the society in 1964 and has been at the centre of our activities ever since. She will still be very much involved, though!

#onthisday in 1826, the Menai Suspension Bridge was opened. Next year will see the 200th anniversary of the bridge’s completion. Here we have documents relating to the bridge’s 150th celebrations in 1976.
