Crane disruption
AN enormous crane that will lift a room full of plants into a 14 sto-rey building will close town cen-tre roads in October.
Station Road and Garrard Street will be shut and Friar Street and Blagrave Street reversed between 5am October 15 and 5am October 17. The temporary measures will allow contractors working on the Thames Tower to install a 500 tonne crane that will put a prefabricated plant room onto the roof of the building.

Yes half the problem is that its changed over time - for 'whatever reason'. Its just a nonsense. Give me trousers that are inches waist x leg like mens are, and tops measured in inches like bra sizes are. I'm fed up with having to guess!

Ah this might be opening a can of worms but let's sort clothing sizes (particularly womens clothing) while we're at it. I dont even mind what unit is used, so long as its an ACTUAL unit of measurement. Just scrap made up random-number-sizing that is different for every retailer!

Yeah my experience too. Me with kid and shopping on the bike doesnt want to be tarred with the same brush as dangerous su-ron riders etc. I absolutely am thoughtful and careful, i'm not responsible for those riding dangerously in the same way as good drivers aren't responsible for dangerous ones.

Whats that bike doing on the wrong side of the rd though, thats dangerous, bloody cyclists never obey laws they're probably about to run over a disabled person or a kid, bikes should be banned, if they were in a car they'd be in the queue and there'd be no gap, its the cyclists fault! Or something.

Drivers def do use pavements, paths etc to drive& park on. With awful consequences. If drivers always stopped for pedestrians, only parked where it was safe& didnt speed, crossings; double yellows; traffic lights; speed cameras wouldn't exist. Its all car infrastructure to combat dangerous driving.

I'd also add that in a majority of cases, a cyclist is using the pavement as there's no safe alternative. Build safe, protected bike lanes and cyclists won't use the pavement. Where are we supposed to go? We get hit by a vehicle = we die.

Anything other than a standard bike is a nightmare, more so with a heavy cargo bike etc. Difficult enough with kids who can jump off themselves, but what are you actually supposed to do with a toddler in a strap in seat? Where do you put them while you're trying to to get a 40kg bike onto that?!

Once tried to donate furniture to BHF-bulky so they came to collect. They arrived&refused to take any of it coz it wasn't in 'good as new' condition. (For avoidance of doubt, it was in V good condition!). I ended up making £££ selling it all. Not sure how these places think they're helping tbh.

☝️ Absolutely this, I totally agree with you! No apps, no websites, no subscriptions. No mushy 'baby food' in jars or pouches or packets. Mash up potatoes and veg for them, and give them finger food as soon as they are able. Get them used to texture, colour and taste. Keep it simple.

Well it wasn't me.... but I do have a Tern like this one that takes my 6yr old and her best friend on it regularly! Can confirm its the most fun ever, and as somebody else in your replies has said, we do ALWAYS want to tell people about them! 🤣
