When: Wednesday 25th March 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Saturday 28th March 1 pm to 3 pm. Where: Liverpool Central Library, Hornby Library. All writers welcome! All is need is a pen and paper.

Participants will produce several pieces of flash fiction during this two-hour workshop. Designed for adults, the workshop introduces key philosophical themes found in different parts of both literature and philosophy and guides participants in writing in response to those themes. We will look at topics such as the climate crisis, what it means to be a person, and oppression.

Rachel is a lecturer in philosophy, a science fiction author, and a poet. Their writing has been published by Arlen House, The Liminal Review, Sonder Magazine, and Poetry Ireland, among others. Alongside their teaching in philosophy, they often teach creative writing. Most recently, they facilitated a workshop at York Literature Festival.

Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

It’s not only that trans people are not an issue or debate. It’s that the Polari Prize is meant to be for LGBTQ+ people. If the Jhalak Prize, for writers of colour, longlisted someone who was Islamophobic then that too would be inappropriate for the prize specifically as well as for being ethical

If you somehow weren't yet aware, my friends and I are putting together a big book of queer rage full of sci-fi and fantasy stories that speak to the moment of the very scary times we're living in. We have some award-winning authors in here along with a big pile of submissions we're still sorting thru. In addition, our first book, the project before this one, has recently been shortlisted for a British Fantasy Award for Best Anthology...so we're pretty good at what we do, if I do say so myself. As of now, we've made over 300% of our initial goal for Wrath Month and have hit many amazing stretch goals, including being able to produce an audiobook with a fully queer cast. But we haven't yet reached our biggest goal: creating the UK's first queer scifi/fantasy lit mag to pay authors professional rates. If any of this sounds amazing to you or if you want to help support queer, diverse art at a time it's needed more than ever before, please consider backing our Kickstarter.
