Around 3.6 million couples in the UK live together without marrying, and most have almost no protection if they separate. Jonathan Marks, Lib Dem Justice spokesperson, is making the case for a law that finally gives cohabiting couples a fair deal.

Really not sure why Labour doesn't understand that when it comes to immigration and asylum, however many offerings it lays on the altar of Nigel Farage, the Reform gods will not be satisfied. Why squander its credibility and shred its values in chasing a far right populist party it will never catch?

We’ve been calling for the failing regulator Ofwat to be abolished for years. Now it’s time to go further, with a new regulator to clean up the Wild West water industry for good. Liberal Democrats will not stop fighting until these failing companies are properly held to account.

My response to East Cambridgeshire District Council’s decision to allocate developer funding towards building a commercial crematorium.
MP for Ely and East Cambridgeshire
CHARLOTTE CANE
I’ve written to the Secretary of State to raise serious concerns about East Cambridgeshire District Council’s decision to allocate the vast majority of current and future developer contributions (CiL funds)—which are meant to support vital infrastructure for our growing communities—towards building a commercial crematorium in Mepal.

This decision will divert funding away from much-needed local services like children’s play areas, cycle ways and pavements, sports facilities, GP surgery improvements, school improvements to name but a few.

The magical disappearing Ed Davey, courtesy of The Observer & @opiniumresearch.bsky.social Poll asks people if they trust various politicians on the economy. @eddavey.libdems.org.uk comes out with best net score, 16 points better than next best. See if you can spot what's missing from write-up:
No single party leader is now trusted on the economy, Opinium found. However, Starmer (-32%) and Reeves (-38%) are the most distrusted, with the Reform leader, Nigel Farage, the Tory leader, Kemi Badenoch, and shadow chancellor, Mel Stride, all rated similarly on -22%, -23% and -24% respectively.
