I knew we were cooked when people were mad that Season 2 of Ted Lasso wasn't fixing every problem they had. We're so far past "art should never make me feel uncomfortable." The goalposts have moved to "art should be made to please me, specifically." It's why AI appeals to so many of these losers.

in my opinion: our current dearth of good rom coms (books and movies) comes down to: 1. they're not being written by people who are Actually Funny 2. Writers are afraid sincerity is cringe so they try to undercut romance with unfunny jokes that essentially command audiences not to care too much
