Interesting article. Manipulating folks’ reactions and plans for the election via social media doesn’t need to mention the election, it might be another announcement that what you ate for dinner might make you ill, or an announcement of an election day only deal at a trump-supporter’s store, etc.

I don’t blame him! Earlier today, I was looking for an old picture of one of my mom‘s cats. I saved this somewhere along the time I’ve been following you because it was such a funny scary picture of MeanCat. Happy early Halloween 🎃 to MeanCat!
A picture of MeanCat Skinner posted couple years ago. MeanCat is precious with his big blue eyes and appeared ready to take on the world.

Thank you. I shared it with a couple folks but am saddened I must 🙏 one will not miss it by having a couple 💵 too much income and the other’s 💔 work accident has qualified for disability. Re the 1st, I know you know but we need a plan for those lacking other skills after losing a job to AI.

Some medical AI are trained tightly (not in the toilet of the internet), validated (a long-standing process for AI and non-AI models), monitored, etc., and will produce truly useful results. Under a different administration, laws would require the public release of this type of information.

This describes the AI companys’ “fears.” They are creating the framework that will allow them to *avoid* current and future accountability for their choices in the design of AI. They decide which actionable tools, vacuums or weapons or anything really, to attach to their models.

I happened on to a family member’s Facebook though I’d unfriended them years ago. They believe this stuff. The cult hold is so damn tight. And they never stop to say, “well gosh that isn’t what is happening.”

Though I don’t agree with you about Joliet being too far to matter, I didn’t know about this treaty and appreciate learning about another way in which Chicago/IL’s historical efforts to control water results in oddities. With a grain of salt, I got a quick AI summary.
An AI explanation says “
The geographic limits and legal rules for how far and where the water can
travel dictate its distribution:
1. The Great Lakes Basin Boundary (Strict Restriction) Under the Great Lakes Compact, a legally binding agreement enacted in 2008 between eight states and two Canadian provinces, new or increased bulk transfers of water outside the Great Lakes watershed are strictly banned. The water is legally restricted to the 295,200-square-mile Great
Lakes basin. © Cleveland.c... +2 There are only two exceptions for pipelines or diversions, which are highly
regulated and limited by proximity: • Straddling Communities: Towns whose municipal boundaries are split
by the natural basin line. • Straddling Counties: Cities located entirely outside the basin but within a county that straddles the boundary line (e.g., Waukesha, Wisconsin, located 1.5 miles outside the boundary line, which won a tight legal battle to pipe water under strict rules that force them to return all wastewater
back to the lake). a
Alliance for ... +3
2. The "Chicago Loophole" Exception (Up to ~35-50 Miles) The single largest exception to the rule is the state of Illinois, which operates under a unique U.S. Supreme Court Decree dating back to the
reversal of the Chicago River in 1900.
WPR +1 • Illinois is permitted to divert a set amount of water (3,200 cubic feet per
second per day) outside the basin into the Mississippi River system. • • Because this is governed by the Supreme Court and exempt from the Great Lakes Compact, Chicago is permitted to pipe treated Lake
Michigan water farther inland.
WPR • A prominent example is a historic $1 billion agreement to build a pipeline supplying Lake Michigan water to Joliet, Illinois, located approximately
35 miles southwest of Chicago, set to begin operations by 2030.
Chicago also distributes water up to 3 or 4 communities deep across
Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, and Kane counties. # Marquette L... +3

Yes. I lived briefly in Lockport, too close to that Joliet data center given Lockport’s underground water flows which ran under my house. And Lockport is critical to the reversal of the Chicago River at Lake Michigan’s locks. We are so connected and made so vulnerable by the water that sustains us.

Maybe we could put this 🧊☕️ stuff aside and disagree over it after we work together to win in November. Trump’s tech bro supporters can so easily tweak their algorithms to give us topics that will distract, divide, and ultimately defeat us when we allow ourselves to be drug around the Internet.
000
LoreWrites @lorewrites.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Perhaps Bezos thought about what he could do to help the Republicans in November. And saw less disagreement among generations than we had in the past, before our shared issues became so urgent under the current administration, e,g. food poisoning. This would do it. There will be more before Nov.

LoreWrites @lorewrites.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
I think there are more of these distractions floating around the internet lately, hiding the real issues. I am worried about tech bros planning to help the republicans during the election by ramping up the ”mess with people’s heads” part of their algorithms, bots, games (e.g., wordle), etc.

LoreWrites @lorewrites.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Dumb and frightening. Tech bros try to elevate AI, such as Peter Thiel and his anti-christ BS. Changing ”artificial” to “super” just creates further messaging that validates “intelligence”, for those who know no better. Data, math, and electricity do not create “intelligence”, let alone “super.”

Since humans can make any AI an existential threat with skill and💰, we ought teach non-tech humans how to evaluate the risk of an AI’s humans. Debate is too often blocked by writers’ anti-AI position. If writing AIs were referred to as WrAI, we‘d have smarter conversations about AI as a universe.

More important than their grift is the damage to the banking system. While Warsh, Fed Chair, might resist the interest rate moves trump chooses, he may give in on pulling teeth from bank regulations. Congress has oversight responsibility of regulators - we need to tell them we want this stopped.

There‘s a CCC shelter in Lockport, IL, on the I&M Canal (original hang-dug canal that filled in a final connection betw the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico). It was along a short cut I used often for the 5+ years I lived nearby. I stopped a few times to remind myself that good change is possible.
A picture of a CCC shelter in Lockport, Il, with a sign noting it was built about 1934 and is cared for by the Lockport Township Park District. The pavilion is made with limestone and a shingled roof. A fireplace inside is no longer used.
