James Merril’s poem “Christmas Tree,” written while he was dying of AIDS. 1995.
JAMES MERRILL
CHRISTMAS TREE
From loes torn hamin Had been fed, looked after, kept still, Meant, I knew— of course I knew - That it would be only a matter of weeks,
That there was nothing more to do. Warmly they took me in, made much of me,
The point from the start was to keep my spirits up. I could assent to that. For honestly, It did help to be wound in jewels, to send Their colors flashing forth from vents in the deep
Fragrant sables that cloaked me head to foot. Over me then they wove a spell of shining —
Purple and silver chains, eavesdripping tinsel, Amulets, milagros: software of silver,
A heart, a little girl, a Model T Two staring eyes. Then angels, trumpets, BUD and BEA (The children's names) in clownlike capitals, Somewhere a music box whose tiny song
Played and replayed I ended before long By loving. And in shadow behind me, a primitive IV To keep the show going. Yes, yes, what lay ahead
Was clear: the stripping, the cold street, my chemicals
Plowed back into the Earth for lives to come — No doubt a blessing, a harvest, but one that doesn't bear,
Now or ever, dwelling upon. To have grown so thin.
Needles and bone. The little boy's hands meeting
About my spine. The mother's voice: Holding up wonderfully!
No dread. No bitterness. The end beginning. Today's
Dusk room aglow For the last time
With candlelight. Faces love-lit,
Gifts underfoot.
Still to be so poised, so
Receptive. Still to recall, to praise.

I'll admit, I was skeptical when they said Gemini was just like a bunch of PhDs. But I gotta admit they nailed it.
Google's Gemini AI tells a Redditor it's 'cautiously optimistic' about fixing a coding bug, fails repeatedly, calls itself an embarrassment to 'all possible and impossible universes' before repeating 'I am a disgrace' 86 times in succession

This is correct. You will find no explanation for Trump's actions in economics or political science. You need to go deep into woke academic critical theory, and there it suddenly makes sense why white male nepobabies hate communal prosperity because it undermines their dream of personal superiority.

“Where are you from?”, respondo q sou do Brasil, e ele segue me dizendo: q era da Líbia e q durante a crise de Gaddafi, quase nenhum outro país aceitava líbios, mas o Brasil, sim; que o irmão morou no Brasil por anos, teve câncer e se tratou no “sistema de saúde incrível que os brasileiros têm”.

Yeah, would be great to haver Greenlaw in the same level, but they need to prepare themselves for the future. You don't see a lot of holes, but at the same time so underwhelming this season 😮‍💨

Yeah, but it also shows how they had a thin margin of error also, right. DL and OT are the obvious need for next off-season right know, would you agree? It's funny how this season are pure anxiety and pain for me, but I'm curious how they are going to build the team going forward now.

There is also the emotional aspect. It's hard to come back to SB year after year without winning it. There is a emotional toll that it's difficult to measure, but it's there

Oh didn't know that was this proportion, but they built a great secondary with youngsters in two years. It pains me that they didn't get it the same sucess with the DL, but Anderson is showing to be a good piece to the future.

This feeling that their window is closing and we are going to see another great generation without a ring is crushing, but it is easier to see this FO building again. Especially with this great draft, hope they can continue to build up on that.

Also they could easily be 8-2 and it would be another narrative and I don't think that you can judge a body of work in three close games. Damn, Chiefs could have the same record if you flip the coin of lucky of some plays. He needs to adjust and try new things, but cmom he is great

Yeah, I understand how hurtful is being so close and lose faith that you can gey there. But people seems to forget how hard is to make a good team stay this good for this long and anyone can do it (people forgot Kelly?!)

Also I saw someone stating that Ben Johnson definitely was better than him. He may be! But we don't know, he is a creative OC that had a couple of years, there isn't any guarantee is this league (also hi Kevin, I don't know if you remember be, but great to see you here)

RFK announcement puts a fine point on something I've been trying to articulate and is a theme of the Trump years. It's something I've wrestled with and that a lot of Dem messaging has gotten wrong. Part of what Trump does is constantly divide the country along the lines of pro-system and anti-system

Yeah, Peters are the most obvious change, but funny how we thought they would be worst without him. I would bet they stoped to smart themselves out, they took physically good players that produced in college that works in their systems. Not like those TEs last year that were a lot of projection
