This is going to a short piece I’m writing titled “Riding like a Girl” (shoutout to IMY). Let’s not have a cycling culture that inherits the worst broisms of car-centrism, tnx. Also: no bell ringing in shared paths, or do you shout at people to get out of the way when you’re walking in a hurry??

What happens with claims about "manifesting" and “staying positive” in contexts of oppression? TLDR: self-help discourse (given its core principles) blames victims and causes epistemic and affective injustice. w/ @sallylatham.bsky.social & @almagro.bsky.social summarized in this blog post ⬇️

Breakups hurt, upend our lives, and change how we relate to each other but have been curiously neglected by philosophers. Our workshop next month aims to look closer at this often messy part of life. Here is the fantastic line up.

Since some people seem to need a periodic reminder: being dull is not a requirement for being a serious philosopher. So if a woman in academia is outgoing, funny, and wears bright clothes/make up, that does not automatically mean that she is a PhD student (in the sense of being junior)
