My favorite feature is that they clearly straight up have no idea what replicability is, despite a decade+ of research, and ostensible crisis, and the paper being in nature. There are more than a dozen measures of replicability that yield widely ranging results and the authors just take a median.

a lesson in game design INCOMPETENCE you don't need AI to make a combat system unpredictable, and predictability is THE WHOLE POINT. So that you can learn it. "True AI" can be useful in a symmetric, strategy games. Not in asymmetric combat games, where fixed patterns are the point. Idiots.

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

these direct comparisons can be overdone, but hers is not a novel line of thought once you’re willing to see some children as just future bloodthirsty savages who’ll try to kill you — therefore its self-defense to kill those kids now — you are already lost and there’s no transgression too far
transcript of post-WWII interrogation of Einsatzgruppe D commander Otto Ohlendorf, who was particularly bloodthirsty in his enactment of the “Holocaust by bullets”

Q. Will you explain to the Tribunal what conceivable threat to the security of the Wehrmacht a child constituted in your judg-ment?

A. I believe I cannot add anything to your previous question.

I did not have to determine the danger but the order contained that all Jews including the children were considered to constitute a danger for the security of this area.

Q. Will you agree that there was absolutely no rational basis for killing children except genocide and the killing of races?

A. I believe that it is very simple to explain if one starts from the fact that this order did not only try to achieve security, but also permanent security because the children would grow up and surely, being the children of parents who had been killed, they would constitute a danger no smaller than that of the parents.

I'll say it again: the AI bubble won't burst because it's not an economic entity. It's a political fascist entity. They aren't trying to seize the economy, they are seizing the rules that regulate economies. They are pre-empting, defusing the means societies have to fight this cancer.

OH. right! i get it now!

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes
