The Diversity of Type 1 Diabetes Across Bristol (T1D-DAB) Study @t1d-dabstudy.bsky.social · 02/05/2025
Age and ethnicity are highly underrepresented in Type 1 diabetes research. The T1D-DAB study at the University of Bristol is aiming to change that.📣 Follow our T1D-DAB community for updates. #Type1diabetes #PhDResearch #InclusiveResearch #UniversityOfBristol #T1DResearchMatters #T1Dcommunity
A photo of eight people of different ages and ethnic backgrounds. The text on the image says, "Type 1 Diabetes Doesn’t Look Just One Way" and "Underrepresented research topic." The image highlights the diversity often missing from T1D research.

Oh wow, 19% undetectable were also detectable when stimulated! I must keep an eye on the literature again on this 🙏🏻

How common is it Peter? I thought all my T1 life I might have - diagnosed early by chance, and pre symptomatic. But nope, undetectable there in a c-peptide recently 🤪

A nice summary of Time in Tight Range for people WITHOUT diabetes. Non-diabetics spend the vast majority of time btw 70-140mg/dL. This is almost impossible to achieve with T1D but even 50% TITR is considered enough to avoid most long term complications #ATTD2025 #dedoc°

We really need to talk about #Neurodivergence and #Type1Diabetes together. We hear about Diabetes Distress these days but in my opinion, this is something at the root of a lot of it. Stigma in both that if removed and when supported with what is needed can make the world of difference.

Once I got access to the paper, they're highlighting that if you call it 'tight' does that imply that the rest is lax. So I think we proved by reaction that lax is terrible but with tight, the unlabeled is understood as lax by default. Therefore tight needs changed which is so true!

Just got access to it! It looks like and rightly so, they're proposing the 'tight' to be changed. Clearly responded naturally 🙈 If there's tight, it implies that there's lax so tight needs to be changed. Which I agree as TITR triggers me!

I feel like 'lax' is such a negative and loaded term especially as TIR targets are unachievable for most let alone TTIR and 'lax' seems like 'lazy' when the person is doing their best with the tools they only have access to. Would 'baseline' or 'standard' not be better? #T1D #T2D #Diabetes

I (unintentionally) was wearing a Dexcom One+ AND a Libre 2. They checked blood glucose via the big machine. My sensor data are not aligned though. Dex reading higher than Libre consistently. BGM close to Libre. We're all biologically different!
