Well, understandable, with Java 28 already having some big expected features in it, a second of that size would not be realistic. Anyway, the last LTS (yes, said that on purpose) would be so exciting with both Valhalla and full AOT in it!

And on top of that, we add tons of new features!

Loïc Mathieu @loicmathieu.fr · 09/09/2026
- On the Queue side, which allows asynchronous message passing between components: we rewrite it from scratch, simpler, with no multiple consumer group support, allowing impl. by more queuing backends like RabbitMQ and Redis, which would simplify hosting and provide low-latency and high-throughput.
100
Loïc Mathieu @loicmathieu.fr · 09/09/2026
- On the Worker side, which runs tasks: we move to a gRPC pull-based model so it can run, decoupled from the backend, anywhere; we prefetch jobs and batch-emit logs and metrics for better performance.
100
Loïc Mathieu @loicmathieu.fr · 09/09/2026
- On the Scheduler side, which handles triggers: we drop the Kafka Streams implementation; we partition it based on VNodes with consistent hashing; and we switch to the single-writer principle.
100
Loïc Mathieu @loicmathieu.fr · 09/09/2026
- On the Executor side, which implements orchestration logic: we drop the Kafka Streams impl; we decouple the JDBC implementation from the queue and the database so it becomes the reference; we switch to lightweight messages with single-writer principle; and we refactor it a lot for extensibility.
