Yesterday at the Irish Riichi Championship was a day where I was never in the lead at any point and I was never last at any point. The result was a string of tight games and a death of thousand cuts by means of relatively good third places in all the 5 hanchan. Today I intend to change that.

The protagonist is the kind of person whose main thing in life, and the reason for all her problems, is that she can’t say no to a woman who catches her fancy. The name of this sort of setup in comics and manga is literally a “harem”. It is definitely not beyond a cis woman to depict fetishisation.

During this weekend I’ve been playing in the Valencia 2026 Riichi tournament. Unfortunately none of this went my way, but I had great fun, I played decently well and I hope to make it to another tournament there! There’s one in November so I will take a look.

The 2025 EMA ruleset for Riichi incorporates the Japanese words and leaves the others as optional, likely because there’s quite some crossover between MCR and Riichi in Europe, and also so that they don’t have to update loads of old docs).
