I was grateful for how to author treated moving as another element of grief, both in missing the old place and trying to acclimate to a new standard that wasnt familiar. Everything that the author talked about was carefully thought out, and together made a beautiful masterpiece. Bravo!

I loved that grief wasnt taken from the stance of stages, but from a place where re-membering, celebrating, talking about them, and pulling their wisdom into your life was showcased. from a therapist standpoint, thats a much less pathologizing and painful way of seeing grief.

I appreciated them showing the dad *getting it wrong* and figuring out how to apologize and *get it right.* I loved that the crush between Matt and Eli wasn't overdone or taking up all the plot (because it's more realistic this way!).

just finished Eli Over Easy and that was one of the best middle grade books I've read since Moonflower by Kacen Callender. Heartfelt, true to grief and how people experience it differently, finding your own path to re-membering and celebrating, and quiet queer love ❤️ #booksky #middlegrade #lgbtqia

#sapphicseptember is reading space battle lunchtime vols 1-3! I love Peony and Neptunia 😍 when they were doing a challenge as a team, they were Team Petunia 🤌 #booksky #comics #lgbtqia

a space fish girl named Neptunia is catching a human named Peony after tripping over some camera cables. Neptunia is blue, with scales on her head and arms (most of her head is shaved, with one patch of longer teal hair that covers her eye), and shes wearing a two tones blue vest with thick orange seams. she is wearing a black high neck t-shirt, orange ribbed leggings, and black boots. Peony is wearing a long coral skirt, striped lighter coral and white leggings, a white chefs apron shirt with hearts on the ends of the sleeves. she's wearing coral boots.

in a map-like style, Neptunia is rescuing Peony on a lime green motor spacebike.

first panel: Peony is wearing a long sleeve pink shirt with a white apron over top. Neptunia is wearing a teal shirt with yellow collar and shoulder seams with brown pants. Peony is holding out a cupcake with blue frosting and a tiny knife on top out to Neptunia.
second panel: washed in magenta, Neptunia is kissing Peony on the cheek while holding her cupcake.

why do all women have to be likeable, anyway? 🤣

these two are so wholesome 💜 Asahi always is trying to assuage Mitsuke's insecurities and fears, and vice versa. They really hold space for each other's imperfections and differences, and repair the ruptures that happen with such compassion. I appreciate their relationship! #booksky #manga

five manga panes of mitsuki and asahi. they both have some Asian flush from drinking earlier, and are cuddled in bed in their outfits from dinner (long sleeves and comfy slacks). their shoes are on the floor.
the text reads as follows:
mitsuke: "argh, sorry. im too much, right?"
asahi: "well you are huge."
mitsuke: "I dont mean physically"
asahi: "it's okay. you can be too much for me."
asahi kisses mitsuke's forehead.
asahi: "that's just enough for me."

of course...even in the manga about traveling around the world, #LosAngeles has to be know for their #metro #subway smelling like urine 🤣 so overwhelming it makes the poor kid sick and the next page is them talking about rideshare instead lol!! #booksky #manga #ournotsolonelyplanettravelguide

manga - several panes are displayed.
1st pane - Griffith Observatory and the observatory in the background with many people milling about. text reads asahi asks, "Mitsuki, are you okay?" then mitsuki responds, "Yeah. Sorry. It's not usually this bad."
rest of the scene is cut off.
2nd pane - mitsuki and asahi are sitting together, mitsuki with light hair, his jacket hood up and a strained expression on his face. asahi with dark hair also in a jacket, looking at mitsuki. text reads "But like...there was a weird smell in the train, right?"
3rd pane - mitsuki and asahi are sitting side by side in the grass with people in the background. text reads mitsuki says, "i think thats why..." then asahi responds, "ahh, yeah. it smelled like pee..."

maybe Japanese BLs arent all horrible 🥲 most of them have yucky tropes and power dynamics, but this one is so wholesome!! #manga #BL #boyslove #booksky

first panel: a picture of an open left hand and a second hand putting a promise ring on the second to last finger. text - "this is a promise ring."
second panel: Mitsuki, a pink haired young man, says "Promise to spend next Christmas... and all the others with me too." to his boyfriend Asahi, a black haired young man.
third panel: a hand is resching for the arms of a pair of glasses. text - "Merry Christmas."

hmm, not sure about a text per se, but an element of it (at least in my mind) is that queer theory is separate (by nature of the fact queer can encompass sexual orientation as well) and/or a sub category of gender studies (because queer can encompass many gender identities) 🤔

I recently had a conversation where we talked about the sentience/living aspect of plants. plants have the ability to communicate to each other, express distress on root systems etc. we see this with symbiotic fungi and oak networks. whats a vegans take on that?
