#sapphicseptember is reading space battle lunchtime vols 1-3! I love Peony and Neptunia 😍 when they were doing a challenge as a team, they were Team Petunia 🤌 #booksky #comics #lgbtqia
a space fish girl named Neptunia is catching a human named Peony after tripping over some camera cables. Neptunia is blue, with scales on her head and arms (most of her head is shaved, with one patch of longer teal hair that covers her eye), and shes wearing a two tones blue vest with thick orange seams. she is wearing a black high neck t-shirt, orange ribbed leggings, and black boots. Peony is wearing a long coral skirt, striped lighter coral and white leggings, a white chefs apron shirt with hearts on the ends of the sleeves. she's wearing coral boots.in a map-like style, Neptunia is rescuing Peony on a lime green motor spacebike.first panel: Peony is wearing a long sleeve pink shirt with a white apron over top. Neptunia is wearing a teal shirt with yellow collar and shoulder seams with brown pants. Peony is holding out a cupcake with blue frosting and a tiny knife on top out to Neptunia.
second panel: washed in magenta, Neptunia is kissing Peony on the cheek while holding her cupcake.

these two are so wholesome 💜 Asahi always is trying to assuage Mitsuke's insecurities and fears, and vice versa. They really hold space for each other's imperfections and differences, and repair the ruptures that happen with such compassion. I appreciate their relationship! #booksky #manga
five manga panes of mitsuki and asahi. they both have some Asian flush from drinking earlier, and are cuddled in bed in their outfits from dinner (long sleeves and comfy slacks). their shoes are on the floor.
the text reads as follows:
mitsuke: "argh, sorry. im too much, right?"
asahi: "well you are huge."
mitsuke: "I dont mean physically"
asahi: "it's okay. you can be too much for me."
asahi kisses mitsuke's forehead.
asahi: "that's just enough for me."

of course...even in the manga about traveling around the world, #LosAngeles has to be know for their #metro #subway smelling like urine 🤣 so overwhelming it makes the poor kid sick and the next page is them talking about rideshare instead lol!! #booksky #manga #ournotsolonelyplanettravelguide
manga - several panes are displayed.
1st pane - Griffith Observatory and the observatory in the background with many people milling about. text reads asahi asks, "Mitsuki, are you okay?" then mitsuki responds, "Yeah. Sorry. It's not usually this bad."
rest of the scene is cut off.
2nd pane - mitsuki and asahi are sitting together, mitsuki with light hair, his jacket hood up and a strained expression on his face. asahi with dark hair also in a jacket, looking at mitsuki. text reads "But like...there was a weird smell in the train, right?"
3rd pane - mitsuki and asahi are sitting side by side in the grass with people in the background. text reads mitsuki says, "i think thats why..." then asahi responds, "ahh, yeah. it smelled like pee..."

maybe Japanese BLs arent all horrible 🥲 most of them have yucky tropes and power dynamics, but this one is so wholesome!! #manga #BL #boyslove #booksky
first panel: a picture of an open left hand and a second hand putting a promise ring on the second to last finger. text - "this is a promise ring."
second panel: Mitsuki, a pink haired young man, says "Promise to spend next Christmas... and all the others with me too." to his boyfriend Asahi, a black haired young man.
third panel: a hand is resching for the arms of a pair of glasses. text - "Merry Christmas."

Splinter & Ash was such a phenomenal middle grade book 🥹 Friendship, loyalty, courage, bravery, LOTS OF DISABILITY AND QUEER REP, tradition vs cultural change, forgiveness...too much to name is a couple hundred characters. I can't suggest this book enough 💜 #booksky #middlegrade
A young light skinned girl with a thick brown braid is wearing a blue long sleeve dress and golden belt with a wooden cane in her right hand. she is standing behind a young light skinned nonbinary kid in a defensive stance with a sword held up to protect and is wearing a gray tunic with red lining around the sleeves and collar, a brown belt with a sword scabbard, green pants, and brown leather boots; she has short brown hair. in the background is a citadel-style castle and town with the sun setting, birds flying around, and clouds resting behind the castle. the title reads Splinter and Ash by Marieke Nijkamp

at last she stood left me feeling kinda unimpressed which felt disappointing. id heard about joey guerrero and im not sure if this was the most enticing way to share her story :/ #booksky #aanhpiauthor #joeyguerrero #ww2 #spy #filipina #disabilityrep
book title: at last she stood
author: erin entrada kelly
genre: nonfiction, biography
rating: 3/5 stars

quick opinion about this book: it was just ok
why i chose this book: id heard about joey guerrero before and wanted to learn more. also was an LAPL suggestion.
read from: 6/3/26-6/5/26
summary: about the life- struggles and triumphs - of Joey Guerrero.highlights: the book had decent historical recollections and the "diary entries" were interesting.
I think there were random inclusion of history, people's lives, and embellishments that felt unnecessary. there were also moments that made you scratch your head like when the author mentioned she spoke 2 languages and one was simply "Filipino" rather than the dialect.

im on the last one - Road Allowance Era - and im so moved. I appreciate the beautiful (and tragic) storytelling of the Métis people's history, written by someone who is actually Métis! #indigenousauthor #métis #booksky #graphicnovel #métishistory
a magenta background with a young Métis girl. she's wearing a t-shirt with a man's face on it, and a jackets with various patches- and alien, bison, figure eight, anarchy symbol, a smiley face, a music note, and a few others that aren't distinguishable. she's wearing a white wired headphone set and has her hair in two braids. she appears hopeful.

I went to the aquarium today for my birthday, and I decided to bring my cross stitch project with me ✨️💜 im so content with it! and someone commented that it was quite intricate which I appreciated 😅 definitely a step up in difficult from Geri the kawaii giraffe lol! #stitchsky #craftsky
the complete cross stitch of an intricate "fancy flower" center and one set of petals. there are various colors including light and medium cranberry, light and medium teal, sage green, light pink, and a light and dark purple. in the background is an aquarium exhibit with fish, eels, and a plethora of kelp and corals.

started a new project called "fancy flower" from a cross stitch book my friend gifted me! this one is going to be rough with all the colors switching and small splotches here and there of color. but I appreciate the challenge! #crossstitch #xstitch #craftsky #stitchsky #fiberarts #flower

there is a mistake but I talked with my friend about it and apparently I followed the pattern but it was messed up from when she had shifted things 😅 so... it's fine, I accept lol #crossstitch #xstitch #stitchsky #craftsky #fiberarts #HIVcare #mentalhealth
a cross stitched piece that says "hiv stigma sucks" in black and "hivcare.org" in red. there is a matching red ribbon. along the bottom, there are heart-shaped flowers (blue, purple, and red-orange flowers) with small yellow flowers in between.

IT'S DONE AND IT'S CUTE ASF! washing the grid off, and we'll see what comes of it 😊 going to have to find something to frame it w. #crossstitch #xstitch #craftsky #stitchsky #HIVcare #mentalhealth
blue grid on white aida. there is a red ribbon with the statement "HIV stigma sucks" in black floss. hivcare.org is stitched below it in the same red floss as the ribbon. beneath the text are stitch heart-shaped flowers with lighter green stems and leaves. there are blue, purple, and red-orange heart-shaped flowers with small yellow flowers in between.

a lovely break in the thriller/murder mystery action. I enjoyed annalee newitz's autonomous, and this reimagination of SanFran (and CA as its own country!!) and the future with bots filled me with hope and joy during such a dark time to be alive. newitz is chef's kiss perfection! #booksky #sci-fi
the san fran bridge with various buildings. on different ledges sit several robots, one with spider-like legs, one with sculpted abdomen and chest, one with different types of arms (a pincer and a whisk). above the bridge is a giant rectangle of broth and noodles, a robotic hand holding chopsticks and the biang biang noodles. the robots are yellow, the rectangle, bridge, and building are bright orange, and the noodles are magenta and red. the text reads automatic noodles by annalee newitz.

'home is where the bodies are' was intensely predictable and honestly disappointing. there was minimal character development, minimal logic... maybe I've read enough murder mysteries to already know the pattern? dont cont the thread if you dont want spoilers! #booksky #murdermystery #middleadult
a black vhs tape is cracked in both the clear plastic windows, one side is fully rewound for watching. there is blood splattered on the tape. the text reads home is where the bodies are by jeneva rose

blue grid with white aida. there is a red ribbon on the left-hand side, 'hivca' in red and 'hiv' in black. there are four heart flowers: two with a dark and light blue, one in a red and light red-orange, and a dark and light purple one.

I feel like the plot was pretty predictable and unsurprising. what was surprising was the killer spelling out exactly what was done at the end 😅 like...as if there could not possibly be anyone in the restaurant other than Aunty Lee and Nina? smh 2.75 🌟 #booksky #aanhpi #murdermystery #Singapore
a designed bowl with tea and a spoon in it. a plaid placemat is below the bowl with a tea leaf and a pair of chopsticks on their chopsticks rest. there is a gingham tea towel beside it. the text reads aunty lee's deadly specials.
