This comment and the amount of likes says it all. Losing allies one country at a time. 😞
screenshot that says "Canadian PM Trudeau announces 25% retaliatory tariffs on some US goods in response to new Trump levies, escalating a global trade war."Screenshot that says, "It’s crazy when our own people agree with Canada and want to make the lives of our citizens more difficult and I agree with them! Want to rid ourselves of this tyrannical loser. Thank you Canada for continuing to be our friends! We love you!" and it has 2.1K like and loves.

Protesters Display Upside-Down American Flag at Yosemite – This resonates across our country.
A group of frustrated Park Service workers displayed a flag measuring 30 feet by 50 feet. Some rappelled down the side of El Capitan, which rises more than 3,000 feet above the base of Yosemite Valley.

Good afternoon, #genealogy #genies. Does anyone happen to have the book, Virginia Colonial Abstracts, Series 2? United States: L.O. Duvall, 1951? I am looking for the will listed on the attached image for George Everett and the information it has for him on pg 63.
The screenshot is of Everett, George, 62; Will, 14 index.

I think #GenHour is running a bit slow; I noticed around five things popped up at once. Anyway, I’ve decided to give WikiTree another try. I looked at it many years ago, and it seems to have improved since then. I appreciate the safeguards it offers compared to FamilySearch trees.

Okay, #genealogy genies, quick question. There is nothing about it in the Preface of the book. The mention of George Everett as a "transportee." What does that mean? Google refers to someone "banished or sent to the American Colonies as a convict," but I'd like clarification, please.

FS Full Text=Incredibly fascinating. I ran across a 1704 land deed. The beautiful handwriting, the precise legal language, and carefully noted boundary trees and waterways paint such a vivid picture of Colonial American land ownership. Even spec. mining rights, "Royall Mines", excepted of course!
A screenshot of a snippet of the land deed and it's beautiful handwriting.

This is quite the obituary from the Blairsville Daily Courier Blairsville, Pennsylvania • Mon, Aug 5, 1895 Page 1. "He was honest and upright in the highest degree, possessed a rugged and sterling character and abhorred deceit, falsehood or dishonesty of any sort." #genealogy
An obit that says: Yes, I'll transcribe the obituary:

LIFE OF JOHN A. STITT.
One of the Early Citizens—A Veteran of the P. R. R.

One by one there pass away those that have gone in and out before us for many years. One by one there cross the river those whose faces and figures have been familiar since childhood. One by one there disappear those whose early life was spent in that period which antedates the railroad, the telegraph, the telephone and a thousand of the other inventions that are now so common.

The last one to obey this imperative call, a summons that cannot be set aside, was John A. Stitt. On Friday evening at nine o'clock his life on earth ended, and for him all trials, troubles and perplexities of earth were at an end.

John A. Stitt was born at Allegheny Town, as it was then called, on April 11, 1827. His parents were John and Martha Galbraith Stitt. The family removed to Blairsville in 1838 and shortly after that time the deceased went on the canal as a driver. When he became able to make a full hand he was promoted to captain of the Bingham line. In May, 1849, he was married to Miss Nancy B. Dixon, and continued boating on the canal until it was abandoned.

When traffic was started on what is now the West Penn road, he became the first fireman, hiring a locomotive for Engineer Watt Campbell. In a few years he was promoted to engineer and continued in that position until 1889, when he was forced to retire on account of ill health.

His railroading career was marked by the utmost faithfulness to the interests of his employers, a marked distance being the great railroad strike in 1887, when he remained entirely loyal to the company and rendered valuable service in assisting to pilot the main line trains over the West Penn division.

The writer was for a number of years closely associated with the deceased in railroad service and can testify most strongly to the fact that he was one of the most conscientious and painstaking employes on the division.

#genealogy genies, this page is from R.R. Hinman’s book "...early Puritan settlers of the colony of Connecticut..." Is anyone familiar with it? If so, can you tell me if the men listed under Margaret Carr's listing would be related to her? They are not under a separate heading, so I am curious.
A copy of the text, "Genealogy of the Puritans." page 489. "CARR, Margaret, m. John Logan, at Marshfield, Mass., Jan. 7, 1723-4. Mr. George Carr, Jun., took the oath of allegiance and fidelity, before Tho's Bradbury, Capt. of the military company of Salisbury, Mass., Dec. 14, 1677, and Richard and James Carr, Ap'l 5, 1677."

1/ I read a historical fiction book where a couple inherited the man's father's house. In the attic, they discovered long-buried secrets. What intrigued me most was the wife's insistence on continuing the hunt when the husband was ready to shut it down because it hinted towards Nazis as ancestors.
