I have to be more careful when playing Kate Bush's 'Aerial'. There's a part in it where there's a Blackbird singing. Unfortunately our Maine Coon mix cat hears that and starts jumping at the speaker! Gives me a mini stroke lest he'll jump on my turntable with its expensive cartridge stylus.

Led Zeppelin released their third studio album, “Led Zeppelin III”, on this day in 1970. I remember being a little disappointed when this came out because it was more acoustic-based compared to their first two, now it’s one of my favourite albums. Thoughts? Favourite tracks? #LedZeppelin

You can't change history! Israel isn't going anywhere now however 'queasy' we might feel about its creation. What maybe is in the mind of delegates is the more 'extreme' Zionism that wants to annexe Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, The West Bank and Gaza, whilst seemingly conducting a 'pogrom' against Arabs.

How do I feel about this? Zionism in its least extreme mode just wants a Jewish homeland. Not a problem for me but remember that the creation of Israel displaced 750,000 Palestinians. Not good! In addition we have an 'apartheid' system in Israel and land grabs continue. I'm ambivalent on this.

OTOH. The extreme interpretation of Zionism (which is the re-establishment of the biblical Israel and Judea) requires the annexation of parts of Syria, Lebanon and the whole of Jordan. No doubt Ben Gvir and Smotrich believe in this. This wasn't what the Balfour declaration was about.

The way I see it is that if they had followed the Balfour Declaration and respected the rights and lands of the endemic Palestinians whilst making a Jewish homeland we would not have had the Nakba (750,000 displaced in 1948) and what followed. This is why I'm on the fence. You can't change history.

Well simply put Zionism was/is the belief in a Jewish homeland and that homeland to be Israel (which should btw cover Jordan/Syria and Lebanon). The problem with that argument (apart from the obvious) is that most Israeli are 'Ashkenazi' Jews who originate NOT from Israel but Eastern Europe.

The Green Party is the most democratic of all the parties. We re-elect leaders every 2 years. IMO Rachel Millward is the member that most pay attention to and personally I think she should be the leader.

To me antisemitism is defined as hatred for Jews. Not Israel, not Zionists, not extreme right wing Jewish nationalists like Smotrich or Ben Gvir. Zack Polanski is Jewish, Bernie Sanders is Jewish, Ed Miliband is Jewish - I do not hate any of those. As for Zionists well I 'disagree' with Zionism.
