CD time! Was playing this Buckingham Nicks album tonight. Not perfect, this sounds more like a demo IMO. However you can hear the potential that impressed Mick Fleetwood enough to invite them to join FM.

Album of the day (for the last time): Lynyrd Skynyrd - Nuthin' Fancy. A somewhat underrated Skynyrd album but one which I think is a lot better than some give it credit for. In fact I prefer it to 'Street Survivors' (the last RVZ album).

Album of the day: Pink Floyd - Wish You Here. Here's a nice obscure one for you today😁!

Album of the day: Neil Young - This Note's For You. Yet another NY album I know. This one is less well known coming as it does mid to late 80s. Hugely underrated foray into Jazz and Blues which is a lot better than most of those 80s albums.

Album of the day: Lunatic Soul - The World Under Unsun (double vinyl). My album of the year of last year still repays repeated listenings. There really isn't anyone who sounds like this ATM.

Album of the day: Gazpacho - Molok. A concept album about a great computer (or AI) that is worshipped in a world where religion has disappeared. This AI ultimately results in the end of the world. I wonder where these Norwegian 'weirdos' got the idea?

Album of the day: King's X - Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. This is the recent double vinyl reissue (the original 1989 album was single vinyl).

Album(s) of the day: 2 Originals of Little Feat - Little Feat (1971) and Dixie Chicken (1973). This is something they used to do in the 70s, package 2 albums for one.

061

Llan @llanfertrellis.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Album of the day: ZZ Top - ZZ Top's First Album. A much underrated album by the Top. One which deserves your attention if you value blues/boogie.

Album of the day: George Thorogood - Bad To the Bone

Llan @llanfertrellis.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Album of the day: 10CC - How Dare You. Two versions here - on the left a 1975 original and on the right the modern remaster. The remaster is good but for a 'rolled off treble' (tape wear of the master tape?).

Album of the day: Phil Collins - Face Value. This is an original 1981 pressing. Although it gets a lot of hate (Hi Noel Gallagher!), this is a great album.

New 2026 remaster of the 1981 UFO album 'The Wild, The Willing and The Innocent' with a double live from Jan 1981 Hammersmith Odeon making a triple. This is my #2 album by UFO (top is 1977's Lights Out) and for £37.99 for a triple 180g vinyl you can't go wrong.

Album of the day: Pink Floyd - The Final Cut. Opinions are polarized on this album. Some really like it, others hate it. I really like it and actually find myself playing it more these days than The Wall.

First pressing ('Burbank' label) vs later pressing ('Shield' label). From 1978 onwards Warners used the 'shield' label.

Album of the day: Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme Back My Bullets. IMO the last great Skynyrd album. The follow up (Street Survivors) was a bit 'patchy' IMO.

Llan @llanfertrellis.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Album of the day (and review): Neil Young 1970 Carnegie Hall. This is also a mini review. A somewhat disappointing album (despite some glowing reviews). A/ His guitar is out of tune; B/ The Carnegie Hall is not suited to acoustic folk; C/ The audience cannot clap in time (which annoys him).

Llan @llanfertrellis.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Album of the day: Marillion - Brave. A great concept double album held back by a 'murky' production (that's audiophile speak for sounding like the microphones had a wet blanket over them).

Album of the day: Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac (the 'white' album). An original first pressing and the 45 rpm double remastered copy. Hard to believe I haven't posted this so far but looking back I haven't so for the first time here it is.

Album of the day: Black Sabbath - Tyr. This one is with Tony 'Cat' Martin on vocals. An original 1993 copy this one which I used back then to audition some new speakers at the time ('Feels Good To Me' was the track).

Album of the day: Little Feat - Sailin' Shoes. They don't make album art like this anymore!

031

Llan @llanfertrellis.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

And album of the day: Jackson Browne - Standing in the Breach. Yes I'm a JB fan, and this 2014 album is one of his best of the most recent efforts IMO.

Llan @llanfertrellis.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

NOT album of the day since I've already featured it. But today I got from Japan a minty 1977 Jackson Browne - Runnin' On Empty to compare with my 'Compton' pressing (which has developed a slight issue on track 1).

061

Llan @llanfertrellis.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

Album of the day: Peter Gabriel - So. For many years (as a PG fan) I hated this album for its apparent commercial 'sell-out'. I've warmed to it since, but still feel it's one of his weaker efforts. This is the 45 rpm version. I do like Mercy Street, Red Rain and Don't Give

Album of the day: Steely Dan - Countdown to Ecstasy. This is an original not one of those poor recent remasters.
