AI Refusal Statement
I did not use generative AI at any point in the production of this book or presentation, including the literature review, writing, editing, translation, organization, or any other task (e.g. brainstorming). To the extent that it is possible to know, I did not cite any studies that used generative AI.
Justification: GenAI technology is based on stolen labor, anti-solidarity between workers, class exploitation, structural racism, misogyny, environmental injustice, and climate destabilization.

I read Judy Blume, Lois Duncan, Carolyn Keene, Francine Pascal, Madeline L'Engle, Mary Higgins Clark, V. C. Andrews, Judith Krantz, Danielle Steel, Patricia Cornwell, and on and on, and literally whatever I could get my hands on. Let your kids read broadly and fall in love with books.

I jumped from Judy Blume to Dean Koontz and Stephen King. Then there was Anne Rice. There was no delineation like we have today. You just devoured books. Wish we allowed kids today to do the same instead of pointing out everything they can’t read. Maybe, then, they would feel empowered to read.
