Somehow it’s already #SciArtSeptember Day 30 Carbon. To wrap things up I drew a peat bog, as these bogs are a major carbon sink. www.unep.org/news-and-sto...
Colored pencil drawing of a peat bog. There’s an area of standing water surrounded by dark rich soil on either side with some pine trees in the back. The ground is populated by little mounds of plant matter that rather look like little haystacks.

An Abyssinian roller that is also a little book. It begins: “Why is a roller like a writing desk? The need for fire and acacia, both. One for blood - the other, ink.” Written in India ink. - #SciArtSeptember Day 30: Carbon
A painted, cut-out paper bird in the shape of an Abyssinian roller. The bird has one wing folded back, which reveals a small booklet of pages under the wing. The underwing is brown and has uneven letters painted on it in another shade of brown reading, “Some small words about the medium of carbon.” The booklet pages are bright blue, like the bird, and the words inside are unclear. Day 28 of #SciArtSeptember prompt is linen. It’s not a material I typically work with (even when printing on textiles) but you can find my #sciart printed on linen in my minouette Spoonflower shop including tea towels (cotton/linen blend) with my ‘Mmm… coffee’ linocut featuring a caffeine molecule!
My ‘Mmm … coffee’ linocut printed on a tea towel shot on a white background. The illustration shows a mug viewed from above and off to the side with shadow and swirling aroma lines in which appears a caffeine molecule. At the top (at the edge of the swirling aroma lines) is written “Mmm” and at the bottom “COFFEE”. The print was made in dark brown on beige.
