Early adventures in hand quilting... I am trying to learn using an "Aunt Becky" on my underneath hand. It helps me not jab myself and draw blood, and it really helps with the rocking stitch. So far, I like quilting at a table with no hoop best.

I got lunch at this fancy toast restaurant (Toastique) with my son. This is the prettiest toast I've ever had! It has a ocado, watermelon radish slices, cherry tomatoes, and chili oil. Delicious!

Aww. ❤️ I wonder if it would feel helpful to you if you had someone who could serve as "petparent" and step in for your pets if you have a need, temporary or permanent. It would be hard to find such a trusted person, but if you could, that would be wonderful.

Interesting! The one I found in my garden is white, while yours is yellow. I did a little reading, and it seems the females can change their color between white and yellow (the males, which are much smaller, cannot). Here's the one I found:

A tale of two predators: Scylla and Charibdis, garden-style. On my Obedient Plant today I saw this White-banded Crab Spider and, on the other side of the plant, an Asian mantis. A very dangerous situation for the bees! #spider #insect #bees #garden #nature

This Pink Oakworm Moth #caterpillar seems to have fallen out of the oak tree and onto the steps during the cooler temps last night. I moved it back to the soil at the base of the tree. #insect #moth #lepidoptera #nature

I think this is a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, not in his breeding colors? Northern Virginia #birds

It has white feathers on its underbelly, pale rust/pink on its chest, olive on the top of its head and upper back, and black with white spots on its lower back, tail, and wings. It has a prominent, white spot on its upper wing at the shoulder. It has a cream colored eye streak. Its beak is wide and chunky, medium gray-brown in color. Its legs appear pale.

(And when I say "I grew" the pokeberries, all that means is that I didn't pull the pokeweed and have intentionally allowed it to grow for several years now. I actually did nothing -- that was my entire contribution!)

My son painted my nails for me! I love the way he graduated the blue to be darker at the ends of the nails, and I love the colorful dots.

I finished the memory wall quilt! This is made including swatches from my friend's dad's neckties, blended with fabrics from my scraps for color. I attached the folded butterflies with safety pins from the back, so she can wear one as a pin or give some to his grandchildren if she wants.

A square wall quilt. In the center is a collaged medallion of cutout flowers and birds from various colorful fabrics, with a large yellow circle to anchor them on a blue background. Surrounding the collage are folded fabric butterflies made from necktie fabric on one side and colorful fabric on the other side. There is a yellow sashing border, and a wider border of alternating blocks, half of necktie fabric swatches and the other half of colorful nine-patch blocks.

The memory quilt made of neckties is coming along. Each butterfly includes a fabric from a different tie. The flowers and birds are a collage from my scraps, and I'm thinking there will be a border made from more of the tie fabric. Maybe small log cabin blocks the also include colorful scraps.
