Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 08/10/2026I'd like to offer help but I don't know what to do either! My usual catchphrase is that I can't help them with an empty page - come to me with a plan or a mindmap and we can go from there. If they're not doing the reading or the scaffolding what more can we do? 020

Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 04/10/2026Different to sports, but my Mum (who was learning through her second language) brought home a test that she had got 97% on. Her Dad asked what happened to the other 3% 🤯 she never shared another achievement with him, not even when she got a university degree in her forties. 030
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026Sending my condolences ❤️ I am glad she went peacefully and is being farewelled respectfully. 010
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026I love my job and I absolutely believe in the system I am teaching in. The kids are incredible and my colleagues are for the most part amazing. I hope the school's reputation can recover from this... And that the goodwill and trust can also be rebuilt. 010
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026I have known for a while that schools run largely on goodwill. Goodwill and trust take a long time to build up but can be broken down pretty quickly. We were offered drinks and a formal apology at break this morning, and a promise that they would take measures to stop this happening again. 110
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026Kids couldn't make it to extra curricular activities on time. We made it work as much as possible, helping each other out. Teacher solidarity! It was tough. What made it really bad, though, was unclear communication from management, and (until this week) unwillingness to take accountability. 110
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026While my second timetable was okay, my kids' were atrocious and especially with A's blood sugar we could graphically SEE the physical strain of the long days and frequent movement. Colleagues with small kids had to scurry to figure out childcare arrangements because they had to work til 17.00. 110
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026...have to get used to a new teacher. And I will have some new faces and names to learn as well. I have to find new times for the three students with special learning needs who I support once a week. I have to email A's new teachers with info about her T1D. It has been such a disruptive start. 110
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026Advised on Wednesday that we would get new timetables today, to go into effect from Monday. It's quite a bit better - no period 10 and there are far fewer lessons on Friday afternoons. I will have some new kids in my S1L2 class - kids who have only just got the hang of my expectations will now... 110
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026Sudden reshuffle and a second provisional timetable from 15 September (it started mid-week, so some courses had extra lessons that week, some had fewer or none). No period 10 on Fridays or for years 1-3 (grades 6-8). Still had big gaps in the middle of the day. Promised new timetables by mid-term. 110
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 02/10/2026We started school September 1 with THE WORST timetables ever. I am not kidding. First years (11 years old) last thing on a Friday (they used to finish 12.40 Fri). Sudden imposition of Period 10 (16.05-16.50). Huge gaps in the middle of the day for kids from all year levels. It was an absolute mess. 320
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 01/10/2026As parent to a T1D kid this is heartbreaking. Why would you want your kids to suffer like that? 030

But if hearing aid with pervert cam is ok what about: Wheelchairs with car-crushing monster truck wheels? Guide dog with a gatling gun? 55010
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 26/09/2026Same deal as with all those men in the Pelicot case. Not a single person in that group chat thought, "this is wrong, I should notify the police"? 1150

We were outside school and he 'put a kiss in my pocket for later.' Extremely touched by this, I gave him two back. He dug out the second one, THEATRICALLY CRUSHED IT IN HIS FIST and said 'one is enough.' 573315428

Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 20/09/2026They said in July 2024 it would be 8-12 months. I had to get confirmation from work, and the office was closed for the summer (school) so by the time I got that in September, the expected time had blown out to 18-24 months. When I renewed my Aufenthaltstitel they said it wouldn't be too much longer. 100

Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 17/09/2026#EduSky - any teachers with arthritis in their hands (or really, anyone with arthritis who has to write or use fine motor skills) - what works for you in terms of manual marking and note taking? I've only recently been diagnosed and am noticing it is worse this school year. 000
Lisa B @litker.eurosky.social · 17/09/2026I think she'd be surprised, because she thought she'd be an actor or diplomat. But I could show her how much theatre and diplomacy is involved in teaching 😁 she'd be PISSED that I was no longer using Chinese and had to learn German in the meantime. She'd be thrilled to be living in Europe. 140
