Treat your to-read pile like a river, not a bucket. “There’s no point beating yourself up for failing to clear a backlog (of unread books, undone tasks, unrealized dreams) that was always inherently unfeasible to clear in the first place.” [oliverburkeman.com]

Treat your to-read pile like a river | Oliver Burkeman
I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that you, like me, have a large pile (or digital equivalent) of books or articles you've been meaning to get around to reading, plus maybe a long queue of podcast episodes to which you'd love to listen, if only you had the time.

This analogy is not original to me: it’s like radium. When first discovered, we put that shit in everything, which was very bad. There are legit uses, though.

Listen, if you’re not happy single, you won’t be happy in a relationship either, happiness comes from picking a new hobby and then buying all the things to start that hobby then finding the perfect little storage container for those things and then putting that storage container in the spare room

Family Handyman recently had a one-sheet plywood challenge, so I thought I’d share a standing desk I made a few years ago. It’s almost the same height as width, but tapered legs trick the eye so it doesn’t look like a boring square. #woodworking
Hand drawn plans for a standing desk made from a single sheet of plywood. A standing desk made from a single sheet of birch plywood. The top is two sheets thick with a beveled edge, and the legs have a nice taper. A standing desk with a monitor and laptop on it.

I love when the same word takes different paths into modern English and has accrued different meanings on that path. Beef/cow is a well known one, but there’s also ship/skiff, shirt/skirt, and even violin/fiddle if you want to go way back.
