This headline causes me to wonder what some people think the point of loyalty is supposed to be? Do folks really think it's a good thing to have unquestioning loyalty to someone who routinely and intentionally causes them harm?

This foster kitten has ringworm. Under no circumstances should I be cuddling him. He also refuses to eat or drink if he doesn't get cuddles. He will sit here for literally hours, though... He's been in meetings with me most of the day. Fingers crossed I don't regret this later.

A professional acquaintance signs their emails with "zero distance" rather than something more common like "sincerely." I'm a curious sort, so I looked it up and it appears to be a firearms reference. Is that creepy / unsettling to anybody else? I'm not sure whether it should be?

Should Democrats allow Hasan Piker to compete in high school sports? I can only imagine Americans sitting in this line for crusts of bread say it’s the issue that is most important to them

My official statement:
The “nobody cares” party meme except the loser with the party hat is captioned “Everyone will care if I tell them this leftist candidate has not yet disavowed
Hasan Piker”. The couple on the right where the guy is leaning into the girl says “disavowed who?” And the left has a two people speaking emphatically to each other captioned “bRo the president is murdering people Weekly for the crime of boats and is trying to sell Yosemite”

You know who else has an unfair advantage in sport? Naturally talented athletes. And people with high hemoglobin. And rich people with money for sports camps and coaches. Why should they be allowed to compete? “Fairness in sports” my ass. Never since NFTs have I heard such bullshit.

A tetanus-diphtheria vaccine that doesn’t need a fridge has passed its first human trial. UK scientists reformulated a licensed shot using trehalose, the sugar that lets desert plants survive without water, keeping it stable for up to two years at 30°C. Gavi buff.ly/1kNIUHB #ShareGoodNewsToo

Fridge-free vaccine passes first human trial, raising hopes for the hardest-to-reach
Unreliable electricity makes it hard to keep vaccines at the right temperature – this development could change that.

I heard an episode of something like This American Life or Radio Lab about food counterfeiting in which they talked about how breaded/fried pig intestine looks and tastes enough like breaded/fried calamari that the reporters couldn't tell identify which was which in a taste test.

Love this news but hate the "surprise comeback" framing. Teams around the globe worked incredibly hard to protect & expand mangrove forests & it worked! Please just say, "We tried and we succeeded! Go team Earth!" We must admit our victories to give people the heart to keep trying! #ShareGoodNewsToo

Oh look, another naked emperor. Time to start pointing and laughing at the naked emperors when they say stuff that doesn't track with reality. We need to pay more attention to those "wait a minute, that doesn't track with reality" impulses and call out the big lies.

Oh look, the racist emperor is running around around without any pants again. We've got to stop allowing the right wing to shortcut critical thinking by telling big lies loudly in billionaire-owned media. The truth doesn't support their racist crap. Ever.

Here's how confirmation bias works... Racists badger a black academic literally to his death, and the story is "because he made stuff up." White guy gets an academic appointment despite making stuff up. Yes, race is the issue. Just not the way MAGA seems to think...

The reality - that progressive black leadership which addresses root causes works consistently - doesn't work for racist billionaires. Their fantasy about the world, that everyone else is an NPC, flies in the face of reality and experience.

"but" is the wrong word in that sentence. Things that start with machismo *always* end by revealing the underlying cowardice of the folks who learn into machismo as a way of approaching the world.

So progressive.... Understanding all those years ago that when separating gender into a binary, the options were women or bugs. (These days I understand it's more correct to refer to boys as people too, even though some of them raise important questions about whether they deserve such respect.)
