"Since 2007, (IES) has published 30 practice guides. They cover topics such as teaching fractions, improving reading and reducing high school dropout rates. These guides synthesize the best available evidence, rather than relying on one study, leader or political ideology."

I've been working (w/Lindsay Page and @catherinematah.bsky.social) on projects using chatbots in higher education for the past few years. There are many promising uses for AI in supporting students through complicated college processes - and many important guardrails to include when you do that!

Researchers typically assume that student-level randomization in college classrooms will bias treatment effects toward zero, due to spillovers Randomizing across classrooms minimizes spillovers but hugely reduces power V cool study provides guidance on tradeoff edworkingpapers.com/sites/defaul...

I was incredibly honored to be awarded the CSWEP Carolyn Shaw Bell Award. When I accepted the award, I talked about the importance of mentoring. The lessons I pass on are kind of obvious. But they are important, so I am going to share them yet again. (A🧵)
