Metaphorically occupying a spot in the foyer. In the building, but staying aware of, and close to, the exits. Ask me about the scratchy wall covering.

Like, whether or not one agrees with socialism in general — or how one feels about its various expressions across the world — it historically has, uh, not been defined as wanting to "replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want(ing) boys to play in girls' sports."

Note: That is not, in fact, what socialism is. However, this may be one of the more revealing political moments of the past decade: a leading politician openly acknowledging efforts to redefine a political term based on contemporary political rhetoric, as opposed to its original/historic meaning.

Your current town has a pretty famous convicted sex offender who is listed as having lived there.

My current town is a lot of athletes and musicians and journalists and some actors/actresses. One of the notable people lives a block away from me (I need to call his neighbor, a plumber, about some work I need him to do). Still no serial killer though.

I found his interview with John Dehlin on the Mormon Stories podcast to be more interesting personally.

I know, and I think that is valid. I'm still disappointed in Dan even if I do understand it. I almost signed up for a free premium trial of Spotify a month or so ago, and it was really someone reminding me that they kept JRE platformed that tipped me over to the side of not doing it.

Contrast this with Dan going on the Mormon Stories podcast. My feeling there is Dan gave John relevance, not really the other way around. There probably was not a lot of crossover benefit to Dan from it, but John likely got some benefit of Dan's audience that might continue to watch Mormon Stories.

Liminal LDS @liminal-lds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
But Joe gave Dan a platform & relevance here. He opened his audience up to Dan, and that's good (for both Joe's audience and for Dan). I don't really see Dan's followers rethinking their priors on Joe based on this appearance. If you're smart enough to *get* Dan, Joe will always look like an idiot.

Liminal LDS @liminal-lds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't really see it as Dan giving Joe a platform or even relevance. If you follow Dan, you probably already know about Joe, and I don't really see this as changing anyone's opinion for Joe's benefit. I do think Dan will feel some backlash, and that's fair for going on JRE.

ngl, I'm a bit disappointed Dan would go on the show, but I do understand why it's a good thing for Dan and his work. That said, I did watch, and Dan did an excellent job, but I won't likely recommend it to anyone else to watch if they want to know more about what Dan does, and why he does it.

I have a handheld one that I use to mix up drinks from powders and it's so much better than trying to shake the bottle to get all the clumps out. Just be careful not to overfill with liquid when mix. I usually do half a bottle of water with the powder, mix, then top up with water.

Coincidentally, I got a cold email from an HR recruiter head hunting me yesterday. Plenty of red flags in the email and what I could see in the job listing that I'm just going to ignore it. If they continue to reach out I'll give them a "no thank you" reply, but I'm not wasting any more time on it.

I only know what the article says, but a ruling for the church might make the Kirton-McConkie lawyers and the church a lot more bold in saying "we'll do what we want" rather than trying to play nice and meet local zoning ordinances.

Liminal LDS @liminal-lds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Going to have to keep my eye on this one. I have the feeling that the LDS church is going to be watching this one too to see how strongly they can continue to push against zoning regulations utilized to push back on Temple design/construction.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him skip the Olympics and then come out of retirement for one more World Cup. All of this assumes he still continues playing domestically and stays injury free.

Taney remained Chief Justice until 1864, when he died. During the Civil War, he watched impotently as the Lincoln Administration brushed off rulings on habeas corpus, Black citizenship, and, of course, slavery. "There was no sadder fig ure to be seen in Washington," the journalist E. V. Smalley wrote. "He had outlived his epoch, and was shunned and hated by the men of the new time."

We've only had one case of Covid in our family; my daughter likely caught it at school. When she had it we masked up at home and made sure to open windows for ventilation and run air purifiers and my wife and I never caught it ourselves.

Liminal LDS @liminal-lds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
We have a CO2 monitor and the the highest readings we've seen have been on planes and at church. Everywhere else we frequent has good to moderate levels, but we consistently get bad levels in church; so we mask up. I don't know if masking is an acceptable alternative to the vaccine for your father.

Liminal LDS @liminal-lds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
I don't know that I have any any helpful advice, but while he's not likely to get Covid walking the dog, if he's attending church that's probably his biggest exposure risk. We still mask up in church because the air is just terrible. They really don't ventilate enough to bring in enough fresh air.

To address the loss of independence that comes with not being able to driving, the solution isn’t self driving cars, which are currently not fully legal by the way. It’s designing communities that give good alternatives to driving

2026 Mission Leadership Assignments Announced
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is calling new mission leaders for 188 missions worldwide.

Liminal LDS @liminal-lds.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Noticing a change in terminology to use "mission leader" more inclusively rather than simply referring to a "mission president's wife/companion." Even then the church still used the phrasing "mission presidents and their companions" among many references to "mission leaders" for the 2026 callings.
Updated June 18, 2026

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is calling (begin highlight) new mission presidents and their companions (end highlight) for 188 missions worldwide, including 55 newly created missions. Most of these couples will begin their three-year service on or about July 1, 2026.
