I wonder whether when she played Sabalenka, Anisimova wasn’t expecting to win so played freely. However, winning the title was within reach this time around so nerves got the better of her. Feel awful for Anisimova. 😢

Really sad to see. I think sport is just as much a mind game as a physical one.

Absolutely brilliantly written. Love the way Marina’s skilfully weaved in the other topical controversy without explicitly saying it, but leaving the reader in no doubt what she’s referring to. 😅

Schadenfreude Sunday School Spring Special - it certainly perked me up during my walk. I even found the short data discussion at the end intriguing. Such a brilliant and insightful team. 😊

Have written about JD Vance’s Munich speech. In what may prove to be the biggest week for European security since 1991, it’s time Europe listened to what Trump and his Vice President are telling us. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

We need to listen to what Trump and Vance are telling us.

This may have been the biggest moment for European security since 1991.

This is such an important and helpful read. I want to keep up with what’s going on but feeling so overwhelmed and want to switch off. I know I mustn’t, so I like the concept of categorising the many different actions into 3 buckets and priorities to aid understanding.

What was the name? Aria or something? I’ve blocked a few new followers recently with similar names like Ariia etc. as assumed they were bots.

It's been a terrible week. A terrible, terrible week. The worst people on earth are full of energy and vigour, the best are defined by anxiety and self-doubt. Here are three simple rules to surviving the next four years, because by God we'll need them iandunt.substack.com/p/a-little-b...

I do like a bit of mythology! You don’t need to worry though, @quietriotpod.bsky.social has become my default politics podcast. 😊 It’s those I’m following I will look at to mix it up a bit. Don’t want to continue being bombarded by the same negative news posted by numerous different accounts.

Limes @limesw.bsky.social · 05/01/2025

Thanks for reassurance it’s not only me too! Starter packs were invaluable re who to follow at first. Now rather overwhelming with the negativity of generally the same news posted by so many of those I’m following.

Came to Bluesky from that ghastly place to keep up to date with news and politics. However, I’m finding my Feed is getting me down with the constant grimness of how things appear to be. Would appreciate suggestions of accounts to follow to add some much needed lightness please. 🙂

I’m now finding following pretty much only politics/news accounts on here rather depressing. Looking forward to listening to today’s episode though to hear yours and @sturdyalex.bsky.social’s thoughtful insights (and rants). Need more lightness in my Feed to counter the continual darkness.

They sacrificed themselves once already and realised what a mistake that was, so they are likely to feel hard done by and certainly not owe the others a thing. The group dynamics will be interesting…

Limes @limesw.bsky.social · 04/01/2025

Completely agree. Unfortunately, they’ve managed to persuade others with their ridiculous theories. When Kasim goes, it will hopefully give them a much needed reality check that they’re not as clever as they think they are. Wonder what the plans are for those returning. That’ll disrupt things.

Linda did sharply turn to look at Claudia when she addressed group with “traitors…” Bit of a give away and which was what one “young buck” saw. Re Yin being first, she didn’t hide that she had a PhD in comms (?) so traitors were concerned she was too smart and would work out who they were.

Noticed in my US Politics feed someone saying they had seen several tweets re Musk wanting Trump to kill Bluesky. Another episode I enjoyed was @sturdyalex.bsky.social chatting to Rose Wang, Chief of Operations of Bluesky, and who actually talked about this scenario. m.youtube.com/watch?v=mUVV...
