The cloak is inspired by traveling cloaks (or the Kinsale cloak) which have long been a part of Irish fashion, worn mostly by women at the end of its tenure. Given that both their culture and gender expression are important to Naoise, it felt like an important addition to their look as they age.

Tough to find credible sources about what these tattoos might have looked like, but along the way I learned about what historians have theorized wrt tattooing practices and the tools used for them, which was fascinating. Humans have always been finding ways to make our bodies more our own!

Trying to learn anything factual about pre-Christian Ireland is obviously very difficult due to a lot of overlapping factors, and tattooing is no different. There IS evidence to suggest that tattooing was going on (though obviously not with woad) but concrete specifics are hard to find at best.

Naoise's arm tattoos are loosely based off of a model of Celtic tattoos from the 3rd century BC. I added the harp design on their forearm bc it's an important cultural motif and a nod to their love of the arts. Their hip tattoos are just made-up designs and not intended to reflect anything historic!

And to me, compassion is a major tenet of punk culture (building community, protecting people who are weird/different, fighting against oppression, and so on) so it feels right that an Indigo Lantern would be big in the punk scene. And obv there should be more disabled & queer superheroes!!!

Just want to say, people who try to conflate generative AI with shit like *enemy AI in old video games* are either willfully attempting to muddle the two to downplay the issues with GenAI or *actually don't know anything about how fucking video games work.* Be for fucking real.

I just want games media to adjust its tact regarding AI. Yes we all hate slop, we all hate GenAI and chat GPT but like, video games have always had AI? The aliens in Halo aren't being remotely operated, that's AI! Nintendo uses AI for Mario Kart, same thing, we've had AI the whole time!
