What percentage of successful AI answers are the result of (at least partially) a real time web search? This was formerly considered unacceptable and has become the most common way to retrieve information from the web

Hard to believe believe what passes as an expert on the subject of AI. When a non-expert is confident that the expert is clueless, something is amiss. It is so egregious you begin to postulate conspiracy

Probably the most irresponsible thing from journalists in a while is repeating the contention that "there is 10% chance AI will end the human race" That's nothing but a completely fictional number

An overlooked genre of classic rock is bands that wanted to be late Beatles but also do it live. Procol Harum. I’d even say Blind Faith was doing it but adding jam

I’ve never loved my iPhone. It was just a matter of mobility. With watches, wallets and AI I might stop carrying the phone. The foldable thing would be cool on a commute but not sure I need all that screen at a party. And I usually have a laptop or iPad on a commute of any length

Idea of ibla.sh is to rate tracks to get better recommendations, publishing both ratings and plays back to atproto. (Ultimately, I want this data to be used by @divepool.com to make the account discovery feed even better. So it’s not only about the tracks but the people you discover through them.)

Who cares if someone cut and paste an AI response into their work? By far, most of the paint and brushes in the world are used as tools to paint buildings. A tiny fraction are used to create a Picasso. Same with language.

Most developers want people to use their software. Sometimes it feels like an over-concentration on protocols and open qualities actually might hinder adoption from the mainstream. It is, after all, possible to have benevolent tech that is centralized (despite outward pressures to corrupt)

LLMs are trained on how to build an app with scarce resources and applying agents on top of that only scales the way a company scales by hiring more programmers, but if you assumed infinite resources you'd actually design things differently and once humans show LLMs how that might work 📈

Professional writers hate AI because writing was a scarce skill and they were the high priests. While certain writing might still be, the vast majority of professional writing isn't that. And I mean everyone but Tolkien et al. Unless the writing itself is the raison d'être, it is a commodity

atmo.rsvp
atproto.nyc community day 2026
Join the atproto NYC community at Recurse Center for a full day of learning, building, and exploring what comes after the centralized web. Whether you’re an experienced developer, a creator exploring the Atmosphere, or simply curious about AT Protocol, you’re welcome. The day will include talks, hands-on workshops, participant-led unconference sessions, open hacking space, lightning talks, and an evening show-and-tell. Tickets are $25 and include a light breakfast, coffee, snacks, drinks, and pizza for dinner. A $50 sponsor ticket also helps someone else attend. If cost is a barrier, please DM @atproto.nyc - we don’t want finances to prevent anyone from joining. Read the full Community Day announcement at the link provided! Schedule: - open to close: atproto hack space - 10am: doors open - 11am-11:30am: kickoff talks - 1pm: lunch train with @julietshen.bsky.social - 2pm-5pm: unconference - consider what you want to talk about beforehand, but mid-day additions are encouraged! - 2pm-5pm: workshops - 5pm-6pm: lightning talks - 6pm: closing talks - 7pm: show and tell - if you'd like, you can share what you've been working on at the community day with everyone else! - 7pm: pizza - 9pm: everyone out

Bulleted is officially live: bulleted.app At the surface, it's pretty simple: It's an outliner. Every bullet is a record in a repository you own. The launch post covers what it does, so this thread is the part I left out: why I built it and what's underneath.
