October is ADHD Awareness Month, and for many families the help on offer depends on where they live. In June, Shaffaq Mohammed, Lib Dem education spokesperson, asked the minister how family hubs will give every young person with special educational needs the same support, wherever they live.

Around 300 people work at the INEOS acetyls plants at Saltend in Hull, with some 4,000 more jobs across the Humber supply chain reported to depend on them. Dave McCobb, Lib Dem peer, has challenged the Government to step in and restart all three plants.

Did you know 8 of the top 10 recycling councils in England are Lib Dem led? Mid Suffolk, a Green majority council, ranks 162nd, and Brighton was among the worst in the country when they ran it. @ollygrender.bsky.social put the figures to the government in the Lords in April.

Adults with a learning disability die 19 years younger on average, and over half die before 65, according to the latest review. @meralhece.bsky.social,Equalities spokesperson, pressed the government to guarantee that neighbourhood health services include screening and support for them.

The Prime Minister has promised the biggest council housebuilding programme since the post-war era, but the funding is still unclear. Ben Stoneham urged the government to bring private investment into social housing, warning schemes like Help to Buy tends to push prices up, just before conference.

Lindsay Northover worked with an independent crossbench peer on a defence for people doing humanitarian work, so they are not caught by the bill's new offences. The government accepted it without a vote.

She kept pressing. In April the government brought back its own version of her change, and it is now part of the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Act. The minister credited her by name.

First, persistence. Claire Tyler, mental health spokesperson, won a change in the Lords to strengthen the right of children in care to stay in contact with their brothers and sisters. MPs then voted it down.

Ministers pointed to the AI Security Institute when they rejected an AI kill switch. But it has no legal power to force anything. Sarah Teather pressed the government today to fix that, and to use its G20 presidency to push for a binding global agreement on AI risk.

What the Conservative's did today was outrageous and I am pleased that they were roundly defeated. This was third reading on the Financial Services & Markets Bill. We normally only tidy up at this stage. The Conservatives forced a vote to try and defeat government concessions which were agreed.

She told the Lords she regretted "the loss of cross-party agreement in this area". Today's vote puts the climate duty back in the bill, with regulators reporting on it every year. The bill now goes to the Commons.

Lib Dem peer Lindsay Northover led one of the amendments that pushed the government to restore the duty. She reminded peers what happens when regulators look away: "No one paid attention to the subprime market, then we had the 2008 crash."

Their own government put that duty into law in 2023. After a summer of drought and wildfires, they voted to drop it. Last week their frontbench dismissed it as box-ticking that would "simply add costs".

Parties that campaign on British sovereignty are taking large sums from donors abroad. William Wallace said the Representation of the People Bill will not close every loophole, but Lib Dems will push for changes to limit donations and campaign spending.

Capping donations to political parties was a Liberal Democrat manifesto commitment in 2024, and Lib Dem MPs tabled amendments in April to make this happen. Peers will press the same case in the Lords - so that our democracy is protected and everyone's voice can be fairly heard.

That bill does introduce a cap of £100,000 a year, but only on donations from people registered to vote from abroad. Anyone living in the UK can still give a party whatever they like. A donor could write the same cheque tomorrow and the bill would not stop it.
