Great to catch up with friends and colleagues at the Centre for Catholic Studies away day yesterday, hosted at the stunning Spanish Gallery (Auckland Project). During a break I discovered this beautiful depiction of Peter of Alcántara, OFM. The detail on the habit and cowl!

On Sunday I was delighted to visit the parish of All Saints, Thirsk, to give a talk about the history of the Capuchins there in the mid 20th century. It was great to hear more from parishioners themselves about their own memories too #capuchins #catholicism #thirsk #history

It was a great honour to be invited by the Capuchins to speak at five Masses over the weekend at Erith on the theme of "Mission: Living the Gospel". It was all part of their jubilee celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis. #catholic #capuchin #franciscan #francisofassisi

He was the very cornerstone of my passion for religious history. He was also the reason I researched mysticism, both medieval and modern, from my undergraduate dissertation through to my PhD. He introduced me to the Cloud of Unknowing, and through that Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite. (3/5)
