I'm beyond saddened to learn of the death of Howard Wickes, a great academic who for many years was central to Northumbria's history department. In 2008/9, when teaching a course on medieval and early modern religion, he held up a copy of The Imitation of Christ that he stated had (1/5)

Reading more about the New Norcia Benedictine mission and the general dominance of the Benedictines over the early Catholic mission in Australia.
