When LGBT+ people in Türkiye are targeted, community is power. The attention and solidarity of the international LGBTQIA+ community is part of that power. It creates witnesses. It makes silence harder. It reminds people facing repression that they are seen, supported and not alone. #TürkiyeLGBT
Two flags on tall silver flagpoles wave side by side against a pale blue sky with soft clouds. On the left is the Progress Pride flag with rainbow stripes and the chevron in black, brown, light blue, pink and white. On the right is the Turkish flag, red with a white crescent and star. Warm sunlight gives the image a calm, hopeful feel.

This is relevant for queer and trans/gender non-conforming folk more than most. Disasters highlight the gap some LGBTQIA+ people experience in biological support networks. Defining a system by rigid, western standards risks excluding many. #InclusiveDRR

Square graphic with a beige background and a rainbow arc rising from the bottom right corner. Over the centre sits a light grey text box. At the top, in small green capital letters, it reads: “Our Sunday reading suggestion…” Below, in larger bold green text: “Something Borrowed, Something New:” Underneath, in slightly smaller green text: “Navigating the Emerging Field of Queer Disaster Studies.” The overall design is clean and minimal, with the rainbow colours partially visible behind the text box, signalling an LGBTQIA+ theme.
